Miami head coach Al Golden praised Barrow at the time for his contributions to the Miami program.

"Coach Barrow has always put faith and family first in his life, and this is clearly a time in his life where family needs him," Golden said. "Micheal Barrow is the very definition of a Miami Hurricane - having given 11 years of class, service and leadership to the university and our community. We wish Micheal, Shelly and their children all the best as they enter a new chapter in their lives, and we certainly hope Mike will return to coaching and mentoring young people in the near future

Well that's enough credentials for the people wanting Takeo

You can't be in the NFL as long as Takeo and not know how to play the position. He was considered to be a team leader on every team he played on. I don't see how Takeo wouldn't be able to pass along his knowledge of the position.

Fun fact is that he was actually Miami's lead recruiter on both McBryde and Atkinson this year, as well as several other one-time AU targets including CeCe Jefferson.

None of this means he knows how to coach or recruit. Your first coaching job usually isn't as an Assistant Coach at Auburn.

On another note, I found out the stupidity of the LSU fan base on here today. Posted this stuff on the CC board with an extra joke about the Orgeron thing (even put a next to it) and they are still freaking out about Oregron.

This is just dumb.

That's like saying "Bo Jackson should coach RBs" or "Cam Newton should coach QBs." Mostly the physically gifted players are the worst teachers because things come so naturally to them. The ones who bust their asses off just to make a roster or the ones who bust their asses off and fail are the ones that are better at teaching because they don't have the physical attributes to cover for their lack of knowledge/fundamentals/etc.

That is just dumb.

They gave the football to Bo and told him to run. Takeo was the QB of the D. Very shitty comparison by you.

EAT I am done arguing about Takeo. A person is an idiot if they think Takeo isn't extremely knowledgeable about how to play the LB position. If you have ever heard him speak then you know he is intelligent. He sells Auburn wherever he goes. That is everything you are looking at for a coach and recruiter.

Mike Singletary pretty much considered Takeo an on the field coach, i linked the article to the last "this is dumb" remark.. Not saying Takeo would be great, but to say its a terrible idea is just uninformed

IF Takeo wants to coach, then he should go get some experience working in that environment...

Those who can do, those who can't coach.

You really don't see the difference in coaching NFL players who ALL have elite talent to refining college players in which 95% won't sniff the next level?

You're telling me because Takeo could coach Patrick Willis he is somehow suited to coach Kris Frost who played WR coming out of HS?

Charlie Weiss loves your stance on Takeo Spikes coaching ability.

Mike Vrabel was hired as a LB coach by tOSU straight out of playing. He did well enough to be retained by Urban Meyer

I think the problem with hiring someone like Takeo isn't the coaching but for him to get caught up to speed with the other parts of the job. Recruiting, responsibility of watching over a group of college kids and working with the other coaches on the defense. It would be one thing to be added to an intact staff, I don't know how smooth it would be to be added to a completely new staff

Oh, and he is why Shaq Quaterman (2016 LB) committed to Miami.

No you dont get that i didn't say that it's the best option, just the guys saying its moronic and stupid... I dont get that..a gamble maybe, but the possible upside of the hire i personally think would be worth it.

IF Takeo wanted to coach @ AU, I'm certain he would be advised on how to make that a reality.

Micheal Barrow will be lethal teamed with T-Rob.

So you don't think it's moronic and stupid to believe that Auburn should hire a proven college coach instead of just throwing money at a former player that has never coached a single second in college? All because he was a really really good player and he loves Auburn?

Let's hire Marcus McNeil to coach the OL while we're at it.

Maybe we can get Damon Duval to coach ST.

Or Cadillac. I mean, he's already at Auburn. Let's just make him the RB coach and pay him 6 figures.

I think we had a good feeling he would take the job before offering him.
