I would think it would be easier to stick with Strong starting fresh at a new school than go to our program where the coaches seat is getting very warm and 2017 could be a very good or another average year leading to another house cleaning...

True, risky but if he has any confidence in his system and knows the situation like we do he would see he is the missing piece.

He already tried to put out the TX fire and despite breathing some life into that O still saw his HC get fired

Guy is an established OC, moving to Auburn to run someone else's system isn't very attractive to begin with. Joining yet another staff on the hot seat is

Keep in mind PAM is talking out his arse.

This. Times 10.

He's like an grandame gossip columnist whose writing is so muddy that he can claim that he was right no matter what the outcome.

Phillip Marshall is a complete distraction and should be an example in every journalism class of how NOT to write.

Sterlin Gilbert has to be the best hire we can make

he would be my number 1 pick. He has a strong running game and a balanced passing attack.

- I also haven't figured out the Lindsay love, he seems to have been pretty mediocre everywhere.

- Spivital seems to be a solid choice if he learned from Dykes and Sumlin on qb development.

- I am more and more afraid about Helfrich the more I read up on him. They say he hasn't called any plays since he was at Colorado, Kelly called them at Oregon before he was HC and then his OCs called them after. Couple this with no having any ties in the southeast and an already lackluster recruiting coaching staff, means that he won't lure many big time guys.

Depends what you are looking for from your beat writing

PaM - AU History/Human Interest pieces/Vague Insider updates

JayTate - Melodramatic writings/ Decent Game or current program writeups

Marcello - Solid overall beatwriter

Vitale - Great twitter in game updater/posts post game stats

JLee - Fake recruiting insider

BMatt - Typical beat writer

His offenses were good at USM and his offense at ASU was decimated by injuries. They were down to like their 4th or 5th QB and had injuries at almost every position on the oline. I was probably wrong to say I'd be excited by the hire but I certainly wouldn't hate it and I would want him over all the names that have been mentioned besides Dykes or Gilbert.

He took a Southern Miss offense that was ranked >#100 in total offense in consecutive years to #12 in two years, #25 in FEI O efficiency

Hard to judge his ASU offense when the QB got injured and they replaced the majority of their OL + skill players

So we know nothing right now? Seems like Gus didn't really expect this, nor was Lashlee pushed out.

Whoever the next OC is, I wanna see a more intricate passing game. Utilize the different skills of our WR. Get the TE/HB folks involved as safety nets. And keep the zone read plays. With the right hire, we have the pieces for best offense in the country.

I am kind of upset that we aren'te ven considering Eli Drinkwitz if this is the group. NCSt lost Jacoby Brisset and 3 OL and still improved as a passing team. Guy comes from the Gus tree, but he worked with Bryan Harsin who has a good reputation as a QB coach/offensive guy

EDIT: I'm not saying Drinkwitz is some great candidate, just that he is definitely rising in the ranks and making some very creative innovations

Drinkwitz isn't a QB coach tho right?

Unless we're considering some major offensive staff shakeup, the new OC pretty much has to be a QB cosch

He was QB coach at NC State and his last year at Boise St

I think that is why Chip Lindsay is attractive. He supposedly has respected QB experience

He worked with the OL while at Auburn.
