Well good thing he left Hoover then

LCT Spain Park and Oak Mountain will pass Hoover in regards to talent in the next 5-10 years. Trussville and Thompson ain't gonna be getting any worse anytime soon either. Just a change in demographics. No where else for Hoover to expand to.

With Buddy Anderson hanging it up at VH expect them to start turning things around as well.

Not to mention it seems like power is being more evenly distributed across 7A as a whole.

Hoover isn't the only 7A team recruiting now. lol

Plus you got some 6A teams getting in on that action as well.

No they won't. You have no clue what you are talking about. Just derailing the conversation.

Reading between the lines- maybe martial troubles or possible substance abuse but who knows

Supposedly Davis took the job, and 30 days later just stopped showing up to work.
Sounds like a Davis issue. Thats completely unprofessional.

On one hand I agree. Definitely seems unprofessional... on the other hand, the guy was in the NFL 10 years. The more that stuff like this happens, the more you have to start thinking there's a bigger issue.

Lack of communication? Expectations weren't clear? Wife didn't want the move?

Guys who've worked in an industry a while don't generally just quit a job after a month unless they think something is really wrong with their workplace or something comes up with family that makes it untenable.

The original rumor was he relapsed and was having marriage problems. It then shifted to needing a break.

The team this past year was anything but consistent.

Yea that press release makes me think this could be an aspect of it. Does he have kids too? You'd think this stuff would be discussed upfront but you never know.

So he's stepping away from coaching altogether?

Much like Mason was...

It better be that, pretty unforgivable imo.

Mental health is important, I'm not discrediting that, and so is building a family with the right way.

Bro I love Josh. I grew up with Josh. Like literally we spent the night at each others houses growing up. We played summer baseball together. He went to private school I went to public. He's not a college coach. Like I said if someone wanted to give him a shot to get in the college game he could probably handle TE's maybe after a few year be a special teams coordinator.

And yes trust me just go back 10 years and look at the recruiting for D-1 or even SEC level recruiting coming out of Hoover. Now look at the level of talent coming out of Hoover. Then imagine adding another slide as well. I have nothing against Hoover. I just know B'ham area football and talent.

I'm not that upset about losing Davis, it's more of the timing and the optics. We are already behind our peers in recruiting and this just gives them more ammo of why you don't want to go to AU. And all the sports writers penning articles of the dumpster fire at Auburn. We have enough issues without more bad press!
My guess is the job was going to require too much work for Davis. I just hope it's not a sign that Harsin is too much of a hard-arse just for the sake of being a hard-arse?

What if the break is 2 weeks like Mason before he resurfaces somewhere else?

It's not even about Davis. That's what everyone is trying to point out.

Hopefully if Davis has some issues in his personal life he can get them straight.

You've never worked in the belly of a UPS plane stacking boxes then.

Or dug ditches for laying fiber optics in the early 2000's.

Or scrubbed the inside of oil barrels to be refurbished.

You mentioning Oak Mountain and Spain Park taking over Hoover tells me you are not knowledgeable on OTM football. JN did not recruit. I know this as 100% fact. He can be a bit douchey, dress like an idiot, but he runs a clean program. Not like Thompson or HT. He would bring value to recruiting the south. That was my orginal point. Our new "OC" will do no coaching. We need someone plugged into the southern HS network. There is no reason for Auburn to be recruiting outside of AL/GA/FL.

He had a meeting with the entire team. not just the defense the entire team to let them know he was leaving because he wanted to take year or so off before coming to Auburn and after a year he needed a break from coaching. 3 Days later announced as DC at place he had been rumored at.

I'm not worried about who quit and why, the sum of all these individual incidents makes us look horrible. To outsiders perception is reality
