Will that ever work...we just got off that hamster wheel with Gus.

Harsin should have a philosophy and then turn the keys over to the OC to create it in their image. That's what good/great coaches do.

If he's not capable of that. He should run the O.

JBoy (I know) is now teasing Seattle Seahawks QB Coach Austin Davis as a candidate.

I would actually be excited by that. He is super young and is from Mississippi and played at Southern Miss. Has never called plays, but there has been a recent trend with young offensive coaches from the NFL getting OC jobs. Kentucky's OC (Liam Coen) was the Assistant QB Coach of the LA Rams when they hired him.

wouldn't be the worst hire in the world, i don't think. not sure how he'd do recruiting wise.

I'd bet that he'd do well. He's young and has NFL clout. As a note, Kentucky's Liam Coen is the primary recruiter on their 2nd best commitment (4* WR Barion Brown).

If this goes, then it confirms Harsin is the play caller

Why didn’t we go all in on kittley if Hill isn’t going to be the guy? This guys resume stinks

Newest nugget From JGT

New name to watch: Austin Davis

Currently QB coach with the Seattle Seahawks. He was an NFL quarterback through the 2018 season, so he hasn’t been coaching long. He’s from Mississippi.

Credit to Jake Crain for mentioning this first.

JGT also said this:
I feel like his candidacy may signal a shift in what Harsin is seeking.

Two possible conclusions:
A. Grimes would need a QB coach
B. Harsin is going to call plays, needs a QB coach

I’m going with B. Harsin will sink or swim with his brand of offense.

Get the best QB Coach and make him the highest paid person on the staff. The opposite of what Gus did.

Jeff Lee just posted that it's looking like Zak Hill won't be the OC. Looks like they're moving on.

Austin Davis is an interesting name.. He bounced around the league a good bit, so he played/learned under a few different HC's. If it was Seattle's OC I would be totally against it, but QB coach is different. The biggest question mark is, do we want to hire someone with so little experience.. not just as an OC but as a coach in general? I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Hoke just said in a live interview with Dunaway and brown that Auburn is moving on from Zak Hill. Something must've came up on the NCAA vetting

Nothing wrong with his brand of offense. Just have to find the right guy to run it, and someone that can get players.

Think Harsin will take all the OC duties? Weekly game planning, scouting defenses, running practices, installing plays?

That’s a big shift from what he was doing in year 1. Hard to imagine he wants to do that but

Need a guy like Dillingham if you’re gonna do that. Somebody has to do all that work
