will CJ Tolbert ever get any carries?

I hope a lot. That means the game is a blowout, and the starters are resting.

I dont think we see him play. With the new 4 game rule on redshirting, it will add a new element to how some of the coaches get a few snaps in for Freshmen.. They now have the ability to play those young kids a few games and not hurt eligibility.
Looking forward to seeing how it is used.

quote:Seems like in one of the coaches videos (CCL or CKS) this was mentioned. Something along the lines of they had been planning on when to use which guys. As in who was best to use earlier or later in the season. My take was some might be in development mode, while strategically relying on others (delaying) to fill in spots of need as the progressed. Could really see holding out later for a RB (eta: as if a RB needs more pounding than 4 years).

Maybe for recruiting tool use it to reel in the right freshmen with a promise early playing time and getting little more than 4 years. Which in the case of the really talented he might see as 3 plus a little? Interesting?

I could see them telling recruits that we will give you the 4 games to earn a spot or we red shirt you kind a deal.

Our coaches have to stay ahead of the curve on this rule. They need to get ahead of the game and try to strategize around this rule since it’s new and since the rule is also freely available to our competition.
They have to decide which course of action will be better for the team regarding all the RS candidates. There is the possibility for some to play late in the season and help provide breathers on ST. A possibility for these bodies to be used as injury/ depth chart relief. Or the coaches could use up their four games during the blowouts. As for my own opinion, if I was a coach, I’d use the players that are ready to play in two cupcakes/blowouts, and save two for depth chart relief if needed. Lack of strategy could mean that we use up their eligibility on the cupcake games and then end up needing the new players later in the year and cost the recruits a needed RS.
With that said, there are going to be some TF that are not RS candidates and will play in more than a quarter of the games.

Who was #37 and #13 on the blue squad?

Tolbert and Gatewood, I believe.

I kinda want Tolbert to get a few carries in a game. He seems like a solid running back. I wonder what keeps him from getting serious consideration like the other RB?

Every clip I’ve seen of him this summer has looked great. Maybe he’s just stepping up
