They are going to need that money to buy the fans back after another season of preacher Hugh and his glorious coaching.

The way that sounded, that did make it seem like that was just for NIL advertising opportunities specifically for players. So, I guess that leaves it open to interpretation on if that is in addition to whatever they are just paying us for the game + share of tickets and all that.

I don't like it either way you slice it, but if that NIL number is in addition to the other stuff, that will be a good chunk of money.

If it's only this much then Auburn got hosed and the decision is even dumber

"When you know that, man, if you play this game, in your coffer is now X amount of dollars to help build your roster — which helps us win games — it's really difficult to say no to that," Freeze said.

So “X” is 5 million dollars?

I doubt it.

$5M is probably quarter of an annual NIL budget, so i'm not going to say it is nothing. If that is truly all we are roughly getting though, this seems so dumb.

At some point, money flows with positive results.

MG needs a win against UGA to get that cash flow.

Absolutely. Whole other discussion around how poorly we spend the money we do have and the ROI on it

So we should be expecting some big commitments soon right? With that much money to sling around and desperate for some good news for the football program?

I won't be holding my breath.

Well, that would be a year out from when we are getting paid, but I’d say our shite product on the field is our limiting factor right now over NIL.

I’m not using it as an excuse Merely stating I don’t think NIL funds are our issue currently.

It's not our issue for pass blocking but its why we are selling sperm for a check.

Definitely take with a massive grain of salt. No real details, but will be interesting to see how things unfold.

If he's saying season ticket holders can add it, then that's a direct contradiction from what they said earlier

May ease the pain but doesn't change the fact they sold out

That tweet needs to have more info. Reads as lip service to calm the fans

Agreed. One thing I can be certain of, is we probably communicated this announcement terribly compared to whatever the actual plan is. If students and seasoning ticket holders will have an opportunity to add tickets to their season purchase, that’s a much needed addition.

From the Aflac kickoff site itself:

quote:

“Any time we have the ability to advance Auburn student-athletes’ ability to earn third-party NIL compensation, we will take that opportunity,” said Auburn Athletics Director John Cohen. “The exposure of playing on a national stage against a Power Four opponent in one of the premier neutral-site games in the country will not only benefit our student-athletes financially, but it will also enhance their brands. This is not only a win for Auburn student-athletes but for Auburn Athletics.”

Auburn will receive an allotment of 20,645 tickets for the game, while Baylor will receive the SEC standard 3,000 tickets held for visiting teams. The Aflac Kickoff Game will control and sell the remaining ticket inventory

Unless we are planning on exploding Pat Dye field next year I don't see how it could be the ONLY option as Mike G says.
