Hoke @ On3 published an actual story.
He said that 20-30 minutes into the flight that the team was involved in “horseplay” to an extent that made flight attendants uncomfortable, triggering the return to Auburn

NEW: Flight that appears to be the Auburn men's basketball team heading to Houston diverted back to Auburn this afternoon. Air Traffic Control audio we've obtained shows a pilot in that airspace telling ATC "we have a bunch of basketball players fighting"

I think if we’re being real, we can assume this was a real fight. Doubt it was that bad, but definitely disruptive enough for Kris Frost and Nick Brahms to ground the plane.
Unfortunate that it happened on the flight, but I have doubts it was completely harmless fun. Fortunately for the program, given the limited audience, they can paint it however they like

I got in a fight in high school one time. When when principal started talking to us the other guy said we we're just horse playing and I just rolled with it so we got in less trouble lol. That's just them downplaying it. I don't think its a big deal though, unless they are fighting over a girl.. that never turns out well lol. I'm more worried about anyone missing the game.
