Agreed. He's a great player but not a bucket getter.
Looking at the possible 15 seeds.. we will be playing a very bad team most likely. I've always thought the 14 to 15 seeds are the biggest drop off in competition level in the tourney. Hopefully we get a good draw. I see Lunardi has us matched with Saint Peter's who looks to be pretty mediocre. Second game would be OSU or Miami.
At the end of the day we just have to make shots. Maybe we will or maybe we won't.

Biggest problem with this projection is that we would likely have to play a virtual road game against Villanova in Philly in the Sweet 16. That's a death sentence.

Yeah but honestly I've adjusted my expectations a little and I'd be fine with a sweet 16 and the reg season conference title.
In any case, I'm still a believer this team can get its mojo back and sometimes winning a tournament game or two can help do that. South Carolina's final 4 run is a prime example. They lost 4 of their last 6 regular season games and lost their opening SEC tournament game.. but then beat Marquette handily in round 1 and just like that they were rolling.

Yea that's pretty much where I'm at.
I posted yesterday I just hope we can out talent our way out of the first weekend and then maybe the rest and wins will bring some confidence and a fresh step back into the team and we can have a hot shooting weekend to get through the second weekend.
Like you, my expectations have definitely changed but if we don't make it to the Sweet 16 this was a failure of a season in my view . Had to step back from the F4 or bust though.

I’ve been get to the second weekend and see what happens all year. The tournament is all about peaking and who the matchups are. Most years the best team doesn’t win the tournament it’s just who gets the breaks and who gets hot for 6 straight games. That’s why I wanted the regular season title so much.

Also I am not gonna get on here and trash any players or coaching because it’s absolutely amazing to be even mentioning Auburn and consistently sweet 16 or possible National championships.
But, was yesterday kind of the perfect matchup to bring Lior in at the 3 just to see what happens. I mean the dude can shoot. Sure he may be a hair of a liability on defense but if you get them from packing the paint you can run your drive game and flex action offense.

Kessler's injury isn't the problem. He was never a good post player. His points came off lobs and put backs when our guards were penetrating and drawing defenders. Once everyone realized our guards can't shoot they sit in and take the penetration away.
Everyone saying we need to develop an inside presence don't seem to understand Kessler is not a post presence on offense. He has almost no game with his back to the basket.
Exactly. IF you want to see a post player who knows what to do inside just rewatch some of the plays the TAM post player Coleman(6' 8". 245) made. He toyed w Kessler w/ his moves and knew how to get the ball up and score.
We don't have anyone like that.
And we really don't have the bigger guards who can dribble and make their shots, and not worry about height over our guards.

I may be alone in this but I think Kessler needs another year. I think he will get pushed around by the big boys in the NBA.
And I'm pulling for TAMU to win the tourney to make me feel better. Looking good against Arky so far.

Lior has been blackballed for some reason. Flanagan hustles but is a walking charge and can’t shoot for shite. Why doesn’t Lior get any minutes over him?

Well Texas A&M is looking really good.

We should absolutely let lion get a few reps. He can’t play d against these teams but a couple series ain’t gonna hurt

Texas AM is on fire. Punking Arkansas in similar fashion atm.

Agreed. Haven't been in the camp of thinking he should go in until yesterday but would have been great to get him some run late first half. The games just feel so short when you are coaching that you just hope the guys you trust will come through.. but you have to try things eventually.

Feeling much less disappointed in our game yesterday with how a&m is playing. Idk what buzz did but damn those boys are playing hard. Their defense is stingy as hell
Posted on 3/12/22 at 1:50 pm to AU_251
Yep. They are just beating their opponents with pure will and effort right now. There is nothing pretty about it but man they are playing with their pants on fire.
Posted on 3/12/22 at 2:07 pm to auburnnyc94
Well they have been playing well the past 3-4 weeks.

Reminds me of the Auburn final four run.
