baseball America had Auburn as the biggest college winner of the draft. one of the biggest questions for next season will be catcher because we have a solid guy in nate returning and an elite prospect in irish. theres zero doubt that irsih is the better hitter. Also the pitching staff is a big question mark now

The crazy thing is Irish and Stanfield weren’t fringe guys. Butch said they turned down million dollar deals to come to AU.

I think LaRue makes the turn this year as a hitter.

He just needs to understand he’s got a huge body keep the bat through the zone longer and look to hit the off speed away.

Right handed hitters that try to yank the ball tend to swing and miss, routine ground out to short stop, pop up to 2nd. Stay back and through the zone on the soft stuff away and hit liners in the opposite gap. And some will fly out of there as well. He needs to work away away away away all off season from everything down the middle to 3” off the plate outside. Average will shoot up probably 100ish points and power

He’s a little top hand strong on his swing meaning he’s trying to giddy up a little, trying to power through and not loose. Tight is slow swing, loose is fast swing.

5th-rder Sonny DiChiara inks w/@Angels for $172,500 (slot 148 = $383,200). Will go straight to Double-A.

Sonny signed and will go right to AA. Which means you baws can go see the man play ball in Huntsville

Great article on our roster next year: LINK

We lost a lot of players from last year’s team to the draft.

Bryan Matthews say Tim Hudson is leaving. Probably going to be coaching at Lee-Scott academy.

If Huddy leaves I trust Butch to hire the right pitching coach. Butch is the true pitching coach anyway

From @crosbybaseball

Sources indicate that the likely replacement for Hudson is Daron Schoenrock - coached with Butch Thompson at Mississippi State and just finished a 18-year stint as head coach at Memphis, where he collected 437 wins and was the 2013 Conference USA Coach of the Year

Auburn ranked No. 2 in the nation in 2022 baseball recruiting rankings. Butch has never had an elite recruiting class before.

... add him to that

Tommy Vail

He's a super senior, from NDame, that's coming off TJ surgery. Probably middle relief and he doesn't eat up a scolly.
