One word sums up this team and it is obvious, especially when you look at the shots we take. That word is Discipline

Sadly, it appears to be the case. Maybe Pearl's just waiting in the weeds until he has depth and a bench, but he hasn't done a good job this season. We're probably not beating Oklahoma, and Adams is going so slice our shitty defense in half against UConn. This hurts. If we lose those two, I'm done caring for the season.

We are starting 3 freshmen and two sophomores on top of that Dunans was out. Some of you are being unreasonable about how mature this team should be at this point.

fwiw in college basketball everyone starts freshman. The most frustrating thing to me is the lack of anything that resemble simple basketball 101. The defense, the rebounding, the sloppy sloppy turnovers. We swap on every ball screen take terrible shots and stand around a lot on defense. Our 3 oldest guys are probably playing worse than anyone. Lang hit 2 big shots tonight but he's not progressed any since he was a FR. Brown is in a funk and still jacking up shots. Horace played well on defense tonight but you would think in year 2 we could get a little more offense from him. Wiley will help no doubt as well as the freshman next year but if the rebounding / defense / offense doesn't improve we'll be a 15 win team no matter who we trot out there. I knew it was bad when that shitty juco team scored 80 something on us the other week. That to me was worse than losing to BC tonight who will probably finish dead last in the ACC

You won't find many teams starting less experience than us right now other than teams loaded with one and dones. We're very young and it shows. The defense is the most concerning thing outside of rebounding. We're caught out of position a lot but we're rotating by design since they won't allow you to use your hands at all anymore. We aren't going to rebound well simply because we're usually outsized. The offense can get frustrating but we're trying to play fast. We aren't going to run many sets. Think that's just going to have to get better by playing more games.
Like I said before, this loss is inexcusable because BC is garbage. Just going to have to hope we can learn from this and get better.

Doesn't really matter if it is youth, poor coaching or AU BBall curse, we suck.
At least we look promising while sucking. It is an upgrade from the the cellar we used to live in

They're only as mature as the head coach requires them to be. Make all the excuses you want, but they aren't becoming more disciplined game to game, that tells me all I need to know.

If we would just slow down a beat after we get a turnover, we might quit turning it right back over.

So fire Bruce Pearl? I've watched the Hawks go through the same thing we are and they're professionals.

Did I say fire him? The talent he brings in raises the threshold for AU regardless of his coaching ability. I'm going to lower my expectations on what he'll achieve at AU though.

We don't suck, FFS. We're a young team that is learning. We got off to a poor start, but played much better after 5-10 minutes. BC played a solid game, they're better than their record.
Too much stagnation on offense at the end. That needs to improve. Purifoy is a beast.
