Yep, it's time to pin the baseball and softball thread.

What a disaster to end the season.
Pretty much mirrors the season. I hope they learn during the offseason.

There is an outside chance that the dice rolls in our favor.... like 20 times in a row.... that would get us into the NIT
I'd love that, but cringe at the thought of how embarrassing we'd be in that tournament

End of the season sucked. Glad I've been so busy I wasn't able to pay much attention the last couple weeks.
Side note, if anyone has any questions about concussions I can probably answer them. I've been working on a 15 page literature review on them

I guess I should just be happy with a winning record though.
yea, that always is the sentiment when a team that is usually shitty finished better but you shouldn't.
This team SHUOLD have been much more and we all should have expected more. This team should have won at least 6 or7 more games than they did. It was a shitty execution of the season. Being happy for just being better cant be the final thought.
The team had more talent, yes they were young. But that team could have and should have been 24-8 easily.

Pearl needs to hire a D guru. I know our kids are young, but at times it looked like there was zero attention paid on the D end of the court.

Well the good news is that Bruce is rewarding this team with a trip to Europe this summer. Nice way to get in 10 extra days of practice.

And if literally every single break fell my way then I could already be a millionaire at 25. Hind sight is 20/20
We should've won a couple more games, but could have and should are two different things and you're taking that game to the extreme.

I agree with people being disappointed with this team. I think we all believe this was at least an NIT calibre group that has some inexplicable losses down the stretch. No doubt it was a frustrating finish to a promising year.
BUT I do think people need to realize how actually good this year was relative to AU basketball in past 17 years. Since 2004-2005 season (first year under Lebo) this past season was our 2nd best overall record and 3rd best SEC record (had a better win % in 2007). I am disappointed in what happened late with this team but I still have a ton of hope for future considering this was our 2nd best season in the post Cliff Ellis world with a team that leaned heavily on freshman talent.
Now if we aren't at least easily in the NIT next year I am going to have some concerns but I am willing to give Pearl a bit of leeway
24-8 easily is a bit of stretch imo

Blake Lovell? @theblakelovell Other news that will make #SEC happy: 11 teams should finish with Top 75 SOS. All but one team (AUB at 107) played Top 100 SOS this year.

Only because Oklahoma and UConn bombed. That was out of our control. Strength of schedule is misconstrued. You can't tell me we played the weakest schedule in the conference this year when you look around the league

Why not? Look around the league for me and tell me what you see.

Now we'll have no real seniors next year either

I don't think "easily" means what you think it does

Not including conference schedule because that's out of our control. Not our fault we play Kentucky Florida Arkansas and South Carolina once.
Mississippi State played UCF, Boise State, and Oregon State.
MSU's is the most obvious. On December 6th of this season we were ranked 65th in SOS LINK
So what happened between now and then? It's out of our control. That's why SOS is the last thing I'd use to compare quality of a team
