NCAA rules have adapted to a more NBA like mentality, thus petty foul calling that we have been victimized with

Much like Malzahn, we've had top 10-12 classes 3 years in a row I believe and average 8 wins per season.

Top 10-12 means probably 4th or 5th in the SEC which is about where we are.

Using this same standard Pearl should be finishing tope 3-4 in the SEC

Uh.... no we fricking haven't?

We've never had a top 10-12 ESPN class which is easily the best team/player rankings site

247 Composite only has us with one top 10-12 class and that is only because it included Austin Wiley

ESPN has the best basketball recruiting rankings

2014- Outside top 40
2015- #28 nationally
2016- #19 nationally

Even if you go by 247 Composite

2014- #32
2015- #15
2016- #10 (includes Wiley)

I was talking about football recruiting. We've gotten solid classes and are averaging 8 wins.

I said what if Pearl keeps getting solid classes but averages 18-20 wins with them.

I was replying to whomever said that we have to put up with Pearls flaws because he is bringing in Talent. Malzahn is also bringing in talent, but it's not equating to wins was my point.

You made the comment though "much like Malzahn" which implies that he is recruiting at that rate

Having talent in basketball is significantly more valuable than having talent in football though. Johnny Jones won 19-20+ games multiple years at LSU

But what is he doing with it?
He is playing 5 freshmen and has our first winning season in forever. Sure, we should have been a couple of games better and there are obvious flaws, but be realistic. Next year, we should be a tournament team and the year after that, we should be a legit SEC championship contender if we retain the talent he has committed and on campus.

Bruce isn't a perfect coach, but he is the best recruiter we have ever had and the best option for us. He isn't above criticism, but we have to be realistic about our alternatives.

Regularly bringing in this talent and having veteran leadership will result in NCAAT appearances. I mean, Johnny Jones made the tournament w/ that combo so surely it can happen

If Auburn wants to regularly be Sweet16 contenders and potential to go further, Bruce needs to start looking at adding better developers to his staff to supplement his weak areas

The problem is that NBA games aren't called like college games. I watch 5-6 NBA games a week. CBB is much worse. The goal was to improve offensive production, but they've just neutered the defense to the point that you can't make any contact with the offensive player. The NBA isn't like that.

1) NBA players are better and had years to adjust

2) NBA refs are significantly better in quality and more consistent

Yes, they also allow a lot more contact than college refs. Also, they shy away from calling insignificant contact that doesn't effect play at all.

I agree, he's under performing and has been since he got here. Luckily there are no standards or expectations for this program so it's not a big deal but if we don't make the tournament next year it will be a serious disappointment.

I agree that he underperformed this year, but I don't know how you expect more in the previous two years.

You got to be kidding right? Top 3-4 in SEC now?

With basically and all freshmen team (not Kentucky style)...?

No way. I agree they should have been 2-3 games better than this, and for sure gotten an NIT bid. But to say top 3-4 this year? Unrealistic.

I feel he should get there by year 4, and definitely 5. But there was too much to overcome after 2 years of piecing a recruiting plan and brining in better players than we ever have before..

We don't deserve the NIT

We lost 6 of our last 8 with the only 2 wins coming against teams that are firing or will fire their head coach

If anyone wants to play the what if game, we still have an extreme outside shot of making the NIT

We should be pretty much the first team out, as it stands right now

If

-No upsets in minor conferences
-A few of a certain list of teams get upset

* Richmond
* New Mexico State
* Valpo
* UNC Asheville
* Fresno St
* TAMU
* Memphis

We'd be doing really great on that front if IU rejects the NIT bid (I doubt)

By the way, in guessing from Bruce's press conference we aren't accepting a CBI
