People in other boards asking "how is AU a better spot than XYZ..." show me another team EVER that had this atmosphere during a 5 game losing streak and a "lost season".

This right here brother!!! God bless Carnell for rallying this program from the doldrums we’d been in and carrying us to the next guy.

Totally agree. He will absolutely be retained. As he should be

He has to be... what role do you give him is what I'm wondering?

If a new coach comes in and wants his own coordinators, does he go from interim head back to RBs? I'd honestly want to elevate him to a 3rd coordinator level role like "RBs and head of personell" or something like that but he's paid like a coordinator.

We might want to prepare ourselves for him not being retained.

Especially if we don’t get a big name. I think someone like Kiffin would retain him but you get a lower tier head coach and the gravity around Carnell could make things weird..

Why would we not retain him? Good coach and great recruiter.

If the new HC comes in and doesn’t have the brains to retain him in some fashion after witnessing what he’s done the last two weeks, we’ll have made a huge mistake in who we just hired. The energy he brings to the program isn’t something you can easily replace or duplicate, so if you can’t recognize and capitalize off of it, you are not the coach for this job.

A lot of times new coaches clean house. Doesn’t really matter how good you are.

There can be issues with having hold overs as players can have loyalty to the coach that’s been there longer. Especially when it’s a coach as well liked as Cadillac.

I also think it could be Caddy that chooses to leave and maybe take what he did to another opportunity. It’s not just about Auburn or the new HC. He will have a say as well.

Yep.

I would understand if Caddy left for a “raise” in title, but it would be a big error for the new coach to come in and not retain him or Zac Etheridge.

Zac would for sure go to Georgia and knock it out of the park in recruiting. They’ve already been trying to get him on Kirby Smart’s staff.

I seem to be picking up whiffs of tFear from Bama fans and writers. Or maybe it is wishful thinking on my part.

And props to whoever decided to make him interim HC. It was a good call and seems to indicate someone really knows what the fans and players needed. It makes me more optimistic about the HC hire.
