Yes, and if we want to get back to being elite again on offense, we will need to go back to what the man is good at coaching

Auburn was second in the SEC is scoring and total offense against ranked teams.

Stidham is a damn good QB and we're lucky to have him. We were ranked 3rd in sacks allowed in 2016 with 19, and ranked 13th with 36 in 2017. Sean White wasn't super elusive. I'd say extremely long developing pass routes combined with crappy offensive line performance is more to blame.

This. The offense for the most part was great this year, and Stidham, while inconsistent at times, could have won us a national championship with better protection.

I imagine Stidham will be better in his second year, and I hope that the offense will become more comfortable in their second year under Lindsey. We need to get an elite OL I think a lot of the problems with Stidham and the offense would disappear.

With that being said a QB that can run for 50+ yards a game and complete 65% passes would without a doubt would take the offense to another level. I hope there is a true competition this spring if Malik looks ready to do that, he is a given a chance regardless of seniority. I doubt that happens though next year.

Poor blocking from the OT caused him to only be able to make his initial read too often. Once he got on the move he was able to make things happen, but he's got to be able to get to the second read quicker when things break down. He seems to look to avoid the hit more thank you'd like.

Granted, Stidham isn't a Cam Newton or a Nick Marshall, but go back and look at the first UGA game...there was a series where Auburn didn't sub, went fast, and went down the field like the old days. It worked. I don't know why that isn't something that is done more.

He doesn't need to be. Stidham brought back the vertical game to Auburn's offense and when given protection proved effective at picking apart defenses. That's not to say he's perfect but I think our bigger issue is offensive line & the lack of consistency at that position. He's got to hold onto the football better than he did and make some decisions quicker but I firmly believe Auburn can win an SEC title with him at the helm. Hell he almost did this year

yea, I get you guys are caught on on ranks but this offense lets us down when we need it. Its nothing like the 2013 offense.

Yea it did good in the UGA and Bama game this year and I loved it but its too inconsistent and requires more effort and a coach that can call it.

You guys need to just face it, we are better off with a running QB/read option offense with Gus. And we always will be.

Agreed. I think Gus saw what he had with SW and thought that a QB with a deep ball would suffice. So be got Stidham. Stidham is great when he has protection but generally a lot of QBs are with little duress. Stidham introduced the long ball to our offense again but when that’s covered, our offenses always turn flat like it’s stuck in mud. I also don’t think we are utilizing his strength very well either with all of the WR screens. It’s not all Stidham’s fault though. The offense is so simple that a legit DT quarterback with an average long ball can work wonders in Gus’s offense.

Sounds like Gus has been sitting back in mediocrity and running his #1 RB between the tackles 40 times per game (see: Tre Mason, see: Cameron Artis-Payne, see: Kamryn Pettway, see: Kerryon Johnson) and adding in 15-20 tunnel screens, while other programs were recruiting well, being creative, being multiple, catching up, and fricking winning championships.

Yep. I'm glad to see them finally sign a DT again. Willis and now Gatewood.

P.S. I've watched Gatewood make people look silly in high school the past few years, and I saw him do the same thing in UA game yesterday. He's going to be a good one.

He's the best QB we've had since Cam. And probably the 3rd best QB we've ever had
