We nearly got Steele last year.
Well... we might be just as well off, or better?
I thought Harsin was a good hire until the last 2 games.
Stupid go-for-it calls on 4th down. Stupid fake punt call. Went for 2 when down by 9 with plenty of time left (which resulted in torn ACL for Carlson due to the resultant stupid onside kick). And we whiffed, so we were still down two scores. HUGE dumbass calls.
I thought Mason was a good hire until the last 2 games.
NO ADJUSTMENTS in the 2nd half to the obvious things being thrown at us. Should have been fired in the locker room after MSU game.
I thought Bobo was a mistake as soon as I heard it.
He has proven me correct. Move the ball early, then go away from what got you ahead and try to be cute. Rinse and repeat. 3-0-6-3...last 4 games that is our point total in the 2nd half.
For those old enough to remember, I am looking at Doug Barfield 2.0 IMHO.
For those younger ones, just ask an old timer.

In hindsight it probably would’ve ended up temporarily better. Recruiting ability and last years core staff probably would’ve been kept. We still would’ve added BoBo as OC as well. We might’ve had a better year this year.
Big picture we cannot have regrets though. Steele wasn’t the answer.

I just wanted to drop in and say that 'hiring Coach G' as the head coach is the dumbest goddamned thing i think i've ever heard.

Either Hugh freeze(game caller)
Or
Chizik (networked)-
Harsin isn’t going to get the job done. And what other names will against Saban and Kirby?

You’re not an Auburn fan or you still wore diapers in 2012. Which is it?

Yes they are and I knew twill wasn’t the only one he just popped in my head while posting, but my point still stands.
You need the top talent and you need top development. One without the other isn’t going to get us to the top 5-6 level of CFB consistently.

That’s why at AU with our expenses out for the prior staff and the current staff if a move were to be made either way by firing or by leaving to take another job that you don’t just throw money at a problem. Go get Coach G pay him on the lower end of the scale and let him pay his assistants well balancing out the money on staff.
T-Will would be another example of a great recruiter and solid coach however I don’t think I would like him coaching OLB only inside backers. However I like a 4-2-5 base defense in the college game. So he would fit well in that.

I actually don’t hate the idea of Garner.
Arkansas hired one of if not the top position coach in the country and that’s turned out pretty well for them, considering the absolute dumpster fire the last two coaches created. Players love him and want to play for him. He put together a pretty good staff, and that’s key.
One thing you cannot dispute, players will run through a brick wall for Rodney Garner. They love him as a coach.

Mario will be old news by the time Saban retires.
Garner is all about leaving for greener pastures, and never sticking to build anything. Not someone you want leading your program.

Everyone is pointing to the ‘23 class. USCe and Auburn will battle for who finishes 6th in the conference.
Lol so you can see the future now? Neither team has a single verbal commit on 247.
You're in this thread being hysterical.

I thought you had a good head on your shoulders, but now even thinking of bringing in Garner, totally puts you in a desperate mode and gives me pause on your opinions.

We got nothing but time to wait it out

Time is not on our side in the SEC arms race but we sure don’t need to make any staff changes unless the AD and head coach think it’s necessary.
Now after next season, sure but you usually get into worse shape by making quick and impulsive moves.
ETA: We have seen flashes of brilliance in this staff at times this year but something (losing and bad play calls) has broken trust between coaches and players. That’s the frustrating part of all this.
