Not likely anything will be done before year end (no real advantage in doing that)

Only real advantage is knowing there is an incoming coach.

If/when he gets canned, they better have a hire ready to go. No more of the coordinator search fiasco from this past year.

After the BVG hire I was stoked. Definitely worth the wait and was happy about it.

Following the Loeffler hire, I thought, why the F did we wait this long to hire someone from Temple. I never really bought into the Scot Loeffler hype about Brady and upcoming OC. Never thought our O would be this bad though. I expected him to be average

Bump, with a bit of a LAMP here -

Turns out I stumbled across a little bit of information without realizing it at the time:

There was a bit of miscommunication with the "Fisher probably not" - he thought I was referring to Jeff Fisher rather than Jimbo. Apparently Jimbo would come in a heartbeat, which at least somewhat falls in line with the other bit of information I was told last night.

Looks like Jeff Fisher has at least been in play for a while.

Smart would be a good hire, in my opinion. He knows Sabans defense and could bring some of that success to Auburn. He knows Alabama recruiting and could bring in a good staff.

Fisher (Jeff) would be a gamble on the college level. He's never recruited, he doesn't know how it works, he doesn't work with teenagers on a daily basis. So yeah, it's a gamble.

Fisher would be a gamble that I'd take. What other coach in the SEC can tell a recruit that he coached in the fricking Super Bowl?

Back in 1999, when current recruits were like 5 years old. Not saying he wouldn't do ok in college or that I don't want him... But I agree with rb it is a gamble.

He works with professional football players half of whom seem to be borderline felons so I think he can handle teenagers

Oh, absolutely. Don't think for a second that I wouldn't love us hiring Jeff. It's just a risk.

I would like to think that the reason that no announcement has been made is that if they do it now these recruits will bail in droves. It will take weeks before a new coach and staff is in and that would increase the time that other schools have to secure a relationship and several might even committ to other schools. No one from Auburn would be making contact until the new coach is in place. The best senario would be announce it after the Iron Bowl and name a new coach quickly (10 days or less). That would give them some time to to hopefully keep the recruits on board or change them back. Just a thought.

The lack of news today has been the catalyst for my penis slowly retracting into my body.
