Anybody got any good playing days stories to tell ? A couple of my coaches got into a fight at halftime once

Not on the football field. I played soccer though. We had a couple bench clearing brawls in my day that were fun. Teams hated us so they took a lot of cheap shots which turned into us kicking their arse.

I saw very early on in my middle school football days that I would never do anything besides backup William Vlachos and just take all his practice reps and never get in the game. . I wasn’t even big, I could just block well and I just wasn’t terribly fast. Plus we didn’t really pass much at that age, so no real use for a tight end.

Not playing days but relevant maybe.. I was the ball boy, who ran the ball back and forth to the ref in 1988-89 for the varsity, when Bobby Wasden was the Head Coach at Prattville. His son, Shane Wasden #8 played at Auburn at the time and on Friday nights we would throw together and Saturday I would watch him play for Auburn. The first inkling of Auburn fandom in my life.

Excited about Caleb Ross being back at PHS as the Head Ball Coach..

I'm kinda lukewarm on it. Was hoping it would be Bobby Carr.

And CE, I am from Prattville.

Vestavia has had a ton of kids that would normaly play there move out to Hoover. Their demographics have become much more similar to Mtn. Brook and it has shown on the field.

And in academics. Hoover High ain’t what it used to be. I grew up in Hoover and went to graduated form HHS. We have two kids and there is no way in hell we’d send them to Hoover City Schools, which is why we built in Vestavia. Sadly, there are scores of fellow graduates that feel the same way and have chosen Vestavia, Homewood, and Mt Brook over Hoover.

Because they don't like 10% minorities in their classrooms.

Bobby Carr was offered the Elmore County HS job, but supposedly turned it down because his son didn’t want to move. Just what I heard from some Elmore County BoE folks, I would’ve been ecstatic if that happened. I don’t know much about the guy EC got that’s from Limestone but he has to be better than Stormin Norman who hadn’t been to the playoffs since my senior year in HS.

MB and Vest people just need to admit it. Hoover has them beat in resources, athletics, etc. The third high school has just been announced, and will even the apartment kids out. That is really the only thing that has held Hoover back from being one of the top schools in the country.
