A question of time

After the last season ended numerous posters have said that Auburn needs to give Harsin more time to implement his program. Some have suggested as much as 5 years. For those who took this position, I have a question. Did the events of yesterday change your opinion? How much more time do you think is appropriate?

Absolutely yesterday changed my mind.
Yesterday showed me just how much we have fallen further since our game with PSU last year.
Time is up.

I thought he should at least be given time to prove he could recruit. I think that time has passed.
Nobody was advocating 5 years recruiting 13 or 14 in the SEC during that time

It is amazing guys who were driving the Harsin bus hard just 2 weeks ago are now bailing on him. What it shows is that they were never on the bus to start with.
I’m ok with being wrong but fake is something I want nothing to do with.

No, it shows that positions can change with more evidence. I always knew the penn state game was going to be the defining game of the Harsin era, good or bad. And boy was I right.

I was and advocate of more time. Give the staff time to build the culture/team. There hasn't been one single thing you can point to the is being "built." We are worse in every facet.
While I don't think Harsin got a "fair shake," I'm not sure he would have succeeded with everyone in his corner either. Not a great fit & his apparent apathetic attitude to recruiting means we're withering on the vine.

The whole point was that he wasn't showing ANYTHING to suggest that he was even "building" anything. Giving a guy "time" only makes any sense if he's showing something. If the guy is actually showing nothing, then you need to get him out of there ASAP - you need the opposite of "giving time".
Some of you need to look at year #2 for most of the coaches that are hired at the SEC level. You should see a clear-cut improvement both on the field and in terms of talent/coaching. We came out and looked completely underwhelming against two bad opponents this season after looking worse and worse to end all of last season. Harsin was CLEARLY moving this team backwards, not forwards.
Sure, it looks "obvious" now. But it was obvious before that as well.

Exactly where I was. What happened before this week that showed anyone that things would improve?
And what happened yesterday that broke the camels back? Yesterday was just more of what we have seen. We just had a better opponent to smash it in our face.
It will get way worse before the end of the year I am afraid.

If it took waiting until yesterday for Auburn fans to change their mind, they are clueless about football from top to bottom. There have been glaring red flags since he got hired - from coaching hires and firings, to recruiting, to how he handles team/game preparation, etc
It hasn’t been good at any time in his tenure.
And it’s time to stop blaming the boosters for his shortcomings.

At this point, what more is there to see for anyone? He has his choices at both OC and DC. Every QB on the roster, he brought in. He made no upgrades to the OL after a year of watching them play. We are noticeably worse on defense and our offense is pathetic. And I've never seen Auburn recruiting look this bad.

Unpopular opinion, but I count this as his second year. COVID made it impossible for someone to come from across the country and recruit successfully. How do you build relationships with no contact? Prior relationships were the key. I couldn't count that class against him. The season results will have an asterisk due to the COVID BS (in my book).
So, mulligan aside, this is the year to prove what is being built or at least give a glimpse of the future of the program.
I think we got the glimpse of the future now. Undisciplined, uninspired play, terrible game plans & lower tier recruiting. I haven't found a positive yet.

This. I was an avid defender of Harsin this spring and summer. Week 2 left me shaky. Week 3 was inexcusable.
However the play coupled with lack of recruiting has made me turn.

^ this. Last season we were competitive at PSU, even had a chance at the end to win. This season the game was over early in the 3rd and ended up being a home blowout. The program is not advancing. It’s not getting better. In fact it’s getting worse. Time to let him go.
