Still having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact, the Auburn is going to to pay $7.4 million to a coach that lost to Ed Orgeron, after being up 20 points.

When Mullen gets 6.1, this is what happens

Why does it matter to you? You don’t pay any of it

How will knowing this change your day to day life?

What does it matter?? When he shits the bed again, and loses to teams he shouldn't, he will have this massive buyout. Can Auburn afford to buyout his contract and hire another coach for that amount?

Auburn was in a tough spot with Ark offering Gus.
Auburn did the right thing.
In 3 years this contract will not look so out of line with other SEC teams.
It cost a lot of money to compete with the big boys.

I wish I had less to worry about in my own life. Maybe then I'd give a frick what Gus contract cost.

The answer is always yes

We needed to keep Gus but he's definitely not worth that kind of money.

We have a clown show running our AD. Have for years. Look at at the buyouts, extensions that have to be paid when we give coaches raises not deserved. Tuberville and Sexton played the "going home to Arkansas" shite for years. Now, wash, rinse, repeat. IMO, they should've called his bluff. If he left, so be it. At least make the contract heavily incentive-sided. We are not Tennessee, we could get a coach of equal, if not better than Malzahn for less. Hell, we have Kodi Burns as our receivers coach! Special teams was a complete joke this year. Tell me which one of you DIDN'T hold your breath a little, before every punt. We have had 2 players dismissed over drug use, and rumor has it, Pettway is next. What other team has had that mess?
Kiffin would have jumped for less than we paid Gus this year! Would Patterson stay at TCU if we offered him $7.4 mill?
I don't think Gus is all bad, I just don't see him as worth that. When we have to fire him in a couple of years, what are we going to have to pay the next guy? Meanwhile, Jordan-Hare is in dire need of renovations.

He's doing a pretty decent job.

A shitload of teams deal with this every year.

Backup QB and 2 offensive starters? Shitload my arse! Name ONE!

Almost forgot this, name one non-transfer QB Gus has signed that has panned out.

Why do some of ya'll not understand that the coaching job market right now is just stupid? Yes we are overpaying Malzahn but we would have had to overpay for his replacement too. If you are pissed about that blame A&M & Arkansas. A&M's the one who offered a freaking $75 million 10 year guaranteed contract to Fisher. Arkansas took that playbook & offered a $50 million guaranteed contract to Malzahn. That's the dumb price these days for a known name

Are you mad about the drug use, or mad that Gus Malzahn kicked them off the team?

So by that reasoning, if your competitor does something stupid, you should too? Does anybody think Jimbo is going to do any better than Sumlin? If Arky had offered $100 million to Gus, we should have matched it?
