He’s just underrated. Most of the big schools have come around to see where they stand with him. He reminds me of Terrell Zachary. Better high pointing the ball but think he can be one of those dudes that catches the ball in crowded areas and is tough to tackle

With our WRs I'm glad we didn't make an effort to get Dillon Gabriel, probably made too much sense?

Cause Can Ward was the easier target…oh, forgot we passed on him for 7v7 stud Throne…

Seems to be working out well for everyone

Can we please shut up about Cam Ward?
Some of you act like he was Bryce Young. He was playing at Immaculate for goodness sake, certainly not a given he would be this good at the next level.
Second, we spend all that money on him, we have to forego some of the other pieces we picked up, AND watch many walk out the door because we totally screwed up the salary structure of the team.
Third, if you think Thorne is the ONLY issue with this team, it must mean Freeze has done a darn good job with the aforementioned.
Hindsight is 50/50, Rome wasnt built in a day, and you can kiss my arse....they all seem appropriate here.

Don't disagree.

He was lighting it up at Washington State.

Complete conjecture and much more likely some walk out the door if we go 3-9 and out coach looks and sounds like a whipped dog after every game.

We will be worse next year

Respectfully I disagree

Seems to look that way now

Looks that way before the portal, with several young contributors, and with a top 5 recruiting class? Interesting take

Big assumption that it all stays intact after 2-10 or 3-9

These kids don't care HALF as much as they once did about how bad we are playing right now. If the staff remains intact and the checks clear I say we fall no further than 7#. 2-10? Yeah some guys jump ship but if we even crawl to 5-7 6-6 then I say we still get Offord and several other big fish. Remember we got a QB that Gus wouldn't have gotten during a 4 game slide! Lol

What has pookie dough melting in the recruiting thread during the bye week?

In fairness Gus lined a FB up at QB on 4th down once vs Clemson. As his man boobs got bigger his football IQ got smaller.

Not melting, just not much faith Freeze will turn a corner any time. I'm enjoying a weekend of driving around with Auburn stuff on my truck and not hearing about how we shite the bed yestetday from folks in every parking lot for one Sunday

In the dark days here I had a talk with the sales managers about Minor Keith.
He was contracted by the Costa Rican govt to build a railroad to the Caribbean coast. He went bankrupt three times, hundreds of workers died. In desperation he had planted a local fruit along the biways to ship to the US in hopes to make enough cash to finish.
He completed the railroad, didnt do much, but that local fruit....it was the beginning of Chiquita Banana.
Get it, its darkest before the dawn.
To which one of the sales managers, she said, we get that part, we are just trying to figure out which one of us has to die and which one has to go bankrupt before we get there........

How is this any different from guys on the team looking at how much Cam Coleman is getting paid to loaf around and drop balls?
This is a lame argument. I'd actually argue that it looks much worse from a team perspective when the older players on the team see a true freshman getting paid, and he's not even ready to be on the field. But he continues to start because that was a condition of his recruitment. At least with Cam Ward there is little to no argument to be made as to what his actual value on the football field is. What is Cam Coleman's value right now?

Exactly! Plus we still have to spend a lot of money to find a portal QB THIS year anyway. Except I doubt there will be any patience for another losing season if it doesn't work. Freeze spent all of his political/football capital on Thorne.

No one is arguing Cam Coleman is being overpaid, if its anything over a couple of snickers bars. But the flip side of that is Kaleb Harris, Jalen Crawford, Malick Blockton were great values.
By the time the portal opens this fall it will be a far different story. We will have a couple of classes in house and well on our way to a third, yeah it will be worth it to overpay for a QB and no one would argue that.
I just hope we hit paydirt and they can come in the spring.

Getting 5 * talent requires a premium. The fact said talent is also 18 / immature / unfocused at times will be a known hazard. Every program has to take this into consideration. We can complain about the structure of NIL all day but this is our current reality. Hopefully in the future we won’t have to place high expectations on a teenager to be successful on the field
