I assume Freeze will go after Salter again. He already knows the system.
Yeah he is definitely number 1 on the board and a perfect fit. Wonder what is NIL number will be? Not that it matters. Start watching your Liberty games folks.

I’m with you on that. The dead weight of PT will be gone. Holden should be sent packing, and possibly Bocephus too. Revamp the QB room like he did the WR room. Fill it with DTs. If nothing else, we’ll have a room full of good athletes that can hurt defenses with their legs.

Our QB room getting a makeover will serve our receiver needs because it will encourage them to hang around as well. Two birds with one stone.

Liberty plays nobody. This is a bigger risk than people assume. He's also coming out of Jamey Chadwell's wonky offense, so its the same shite as people thinking that Grayson McCall was going to be a huge difference maker for 2+ years, and now he's just a meh QB at NC State.
Liberty played Oregon last season and Salter threw for 124 yards with 1 TD, 1 INT and rushed for 25 yards on 10 carries.

That's also with Liberty lineman and skill position players, and their best RB hurt I believe

Common sense would tell you that playing against Oregon with Liberty linemen would be the issue. Makes sense.
Salter is better than any QB on Auburn's roster. He was a 4* recruit and went to Tennessee. I trust Josh Heupel's QB assessments...

That's fine, but people think he is good because its a super QB friendly system and he lights up crap competition. Take a look at their schedule - their 4 opponents to date are a combined 4-12 on the season, so they aren't even playing "good" mid-major teams. Freeze didn't leave slop, and Chadwell's system works against this level of competition.
It's a risk, and I'm not sure this is the play for Freeze to make after Thorne given that he needs to nail the QB for next season after doubling down the last time and it biting him in the arse.

So pretty much like Auburn, except we are losing those games.

This means nothing. You realize that Peyton Thorne would light up Conference USA in Jamey Chadwell's system too, right?
Some of you forget that Thorne threw for 3,200 yards and 27 TD's one season in the Big 10. Yes, he has struggled...in the SEC. Peyton Throne would light up Mickey Mouse football. He doesn't struggle when there is little to no pressure in his face.
Its easy to sit there and pretend like every mid-major QB with success is "better than everyone on our roster".
By the way, Tayven Jackson was also a 4-star QB signed by Heupel. He transferred to Indiana, and he sucks.

My guy, Hank Brown threw for 4 TD's on 68% passing against UNM - that is Liberty level competition. And we didn't even play particularly well that game.
Believe it or not, but Peyton Thorne wouldn't struggle to put up numbers against the Campbell Fighting Camels. I'm not even sure what school that is, but that is one of the 4 teams that Liberty has played this season.

You were the first guy that wanted Ward while he was at Indoctrinated Word.
Jville take a bow.

Read my posts, there is a big difference between taking that shot on a small-school guy at the beginning of your tenure when you have leeway, versus the position Freeze has put himself in next year. Cam Ward was also during Harsin's tenure where it was obvious we weren't going to land a big name QB in the transfer portal, so opting for that risk was a no brainer. Its not hard to choose Cam Ward coming off 47 TD's at Incarnate Word versus Zach fricking Calzada who already stunk it up at A&M. Freeze has money behind him and his seat is going to be getting warm, he isn't in Harsin's shoes.
I also didn't even say that Salter can't be good. I said its a risk, and I was directly responding to someone making the claim that Salter is "definitely number 1 on the board". How can he definitely be #1 on the board when no one knows who is even going to enter the Portal? And again, Freeze needs to win next year given the crap-show he has created so far on the field. He needs to choose his QB VERY wisely.
Fact #1: The last Jamey Chadwell hotshot has proven to be a huge nothingburger. 2+ years spent edging over a guy who can't even impress at NC State.
Fact #2: Jamey Chadwell's system puts up numbers with ease (therefore looking at stats doesn't proven anything).
Fact #3: Liberty plays garbage competition.
Again, is that the statement piece that Freeze needs to make? The Jamey Chadwell thing should spook you - he is a "system" guy. There is a reason why no P5 teams came calling for him, and he ended up at Liberty despite his success at Coastal Carolina.

I do not get the love Jamey Chadwell gets either. Those system guys spook me because their seasons are all the components are in, or nothing works.
I am not on the Salter train either. Wouldn't mind him coming to Auburn, but wouldn't give him the keys to the job from the commitment. Places like Houston or Texas Tech are doing too well training up their QBs for
their next spot. Go get a Will Howard and Salter and let them battle.

His burst is better than I thought, I was High on him, but after seeing clips from this season it’s crazy he isn’t a 5*.

Come on yall know he’s probably a 4.5 40 guy and the fastest guys on the other side of field barely run 5.0.
I think he’s a very good back but he’s gonna need to be disciplined in his running early in his career. Can’t just out run everyone or bounce outside every play.

I agree he’s a 4.5 guy, but he gets to that top speed very quickly.
