I think you mean Crotchfelt, don't think he's injured. He's one of a few who haven't been seen for weeks or even months, inexplicably.

We had the number 2 recruiting class Irish’s year coming to AU after the draft took players from other classes.
Are we on equal playing field with no state funded lottery scholarships? Not at all
But I hope this isn’t the excuse Butch is really trying to make. Money is being invested into the program. You wanted a bigger facility they are building a bigger facility.
There is enough talent on the team to have double digit conference wins. Maybe enough talent to have a winning record in conference. I don’t like the messaging at all.

Agreed. Obviously we don’t know what NIL they have to work with, but Butch knew about the scholly limits when he took the job and he’s been getting just about everything he’s asked for in facilities. Willing to chalk this year up as an abnormality, but gonna have to figure things out.

It's a part of the problem, but Butch just missed on evals. We were bottom in the league in fielding, pitching and hitting. Just unacceptable at this point in his tenure. I get it if you miss on one, but we were just bad. That's on the HC and not assistants.

We are not actually that far off on hitting just had a couple holes in the lineup that just didn’t produce. Our defense was below SEC average and pitching was horrible

Yeah, looking at year end stats on SEC website, hitting and fielding weren’t great but not atrocious. Pitching was horrendous.
Batting avg 9th at .276 (MsSt was 8th at .277 / LSU 7th at .283)
8th in slugging %
Tied for 5th in fielding % at .978

And with NIL, the scholarship issue is no longer a hurdle. No clue what we are working with, but I know LSU has guys giving scholarships back because their NIL covers expenses. Watching UT this weekend, and we are a long way off. They are pulling dudes all over the country. It looks like they have football players. Just mauled the baseball.

We definitely don’t do enough on the strength side of strength and conditioning in the baseball program.

I agree. I think the greatest fault was thinking all off season and starting the season that Gonzo was back to “normal”. Allsup wasn’t great by any stretch but he would have been a decent Saturday starter for us. Especially if we had a Friday night guy who didn’t get in the bullpen in the 4th inning. It just trickled down every weekend deeper and deeper into the pen.

I hope Butch can re-set things. He had us on the right track after a long period of futility. I am really pulling for him. He's a quality person.

Crotchfellt entering the portal as expected. I had high hopes for him but he couldn’t get it figured out between the ears

He also stole 1st and 3rd and also advanced to second on a sac fly lol. Blazing fast on the base path .
