I still think we have a good shot to get out of this region if we can beat USM tomorrow but man what an opportunity lost.

14 strikeouts by Auburn. 10 of those coming from the first 5 batters. Wow.

They looked better… they played better… they possibly are better than we are. Penn did everything correct the one fumbled pop up was all they did poor. Great at bats from those guys.

Tip of the cap to them.

Our bats are ice cold. Were last weekend and are this weekend. Approach seems to be try to hit it to hard and no looking to just put the ball in play

I don’t share your optimism and I’m always a you play it until you are completely done kind of guy. If we win tomorrow and Crotchfelt can win us game 1 Sunday who would even pitch game 2 Sunday night against the team sitting 2-0? Then come back and beat the same team Monday.

I agree with this. We were lucky as hell to just get in extras

I warned of this after seeing the Vandy loss in person last week. Low energy.

I posted this on 5/25…

Agreed. Both loses unproductive at bats.

My worry is our backs were against the wall we did every thing right for 5-6 weeks. Now we are clearly locked in the tourney and possibly a host. Maybe lost some focus with everywhere telling us how good we were and how great we were playing. It’s hard to flip that switch off and on.

Bryson, Cole, Bobby, and Cason all have to come together tonight and have a message for the players pregame tomorrow. A coach can’t make the adjustment from the bench the players have to refuse to lose and they are the leaders.

I don't know and this is uneducated but I just can't see Penn or Samford having a deep set of arms either.

Penn by staff era has the 9th best staff in the country. And showed tonight against an offensive juggernaut from the SEC their arms can hang in there against the best.

Probably need Samford to win tomorrow to have a chance. Plus we have to win tomorrow

They likely don’t, especially Samford. But we aren’t exactly stacked in the bullpen either.

Have to mention Chase Allsup dude has been a stud the past month. Maybe the light is coming on for him. Still misses a little too far off the plate when ahead in the count which runs his pitch total up over the course of 5 innings or so but he’s definitely getting there.

If they don’t wake up the bats they are done against anybody. That was either great pitching by Penn or the worst show of hitting in prime time in awhile. Butch said the guys fought hard and maybe they did. Game is 90% mental. Going to need some therapy sessions before tomorrow. Get some swag back.

That 1st P was on. He had MLB control with a nasty slider and change. We should have rocked the others.

It’s almost like i u are a fav and start pressing when game gets in latter stages

Both IMO. Penn is Ivy League but their pitching staff is legit. But with that said, I saw a lot of awful at-bats tonight. Too many first pitch strike takes. Chased far too many balls way outside the zone. Too many times trying to get the HR instead of getting on base.

We knew this team was very top heavy in the lineup, but the first five batters combined are averaging 8 K’s in the last three games. I expect that from 5-9, not 1-5.

our big bats have gotten the fence in their eyes. Every one of them walks up trying to hit it out of the yard.

Samford set it up for us and we blew it.

Completely agree. I knew their ace was good but hadn’t watched him. He had impressive command. Great movement and location. But I thought we’d create some separation after him.

For sure the game is very mental and our approach at the plate the past 2 weekends have been poor.

That huge blast by Cole may have been the worst thing that could have happened in the SEC tournament because of the high it gave the team and trying to replicate it
