Heard from ESPN he's looking to enroll and play ASAP

I don't know if this will be the right place for him

If he can’t beat out what we have he may need to think about Kennesaw St.

Y’all need to start coming to terms with Ashford.

As of now, he’s the starter. It’s Robby season dogs

And for the record, this is not me pimping him. We are all well aware of his shortcomings. But if he ends up being the guy, I think freeze and Montgomery can make it a net positive.

Ashford’s dynamic running ability, good deep ball with added big WR targets, Freeze’s offense, and an actual decent oline…

I am shocked we aren't at least taking a bench QB from another team, just to have the competition in spring. I don't believe Hank Brown arrives until summer, so that leaves us with 2 possible starters and TJ. Freeze clearly hasn't been complacent with any position on the team, and many of the new guys are 1 year players. He wants to win this coming year. None of this adds up with what has happened at QB. Robby and/or Holden may be awesome, but no rational coach would bet on that.

Freeze has earned a level of trust with his talent acquisition plan. So I'm going to settle down and let it play out.

We have inquired upon at least 4-5 QB's that would have been clear starters over Ashford (2-3 of those are guys that never officially entered the portal).

At this point, I would guess that they simply do not value having a body in for spring practice from what's available highly versus waiting to see who is available post spring from the group that will be in open competition for starting jobs.

The main thing is that they don't just want a body.

Grayson McCall - Can’t Transfer because of Major. Rumored he could graduate and transfer after spring. Returned to Coastal Carolina.

Spencer Sanders - not sure if he is an upgrade over Robby. Would bring lots of experience. Still Available.

Devin Leary - lost out to Kentucky. He may have felt like he was a backup option after McCall fell through.

Walker Howard - Same Class (2022) as Holden. Was ranked as the #5-6 QB. Top 50 in class. Holden was #15QB. Going to Ole Miss.

Any others?

What's your thoughts on White?

He's got an impressive schedule at the moment

quote:

on3 - It starts with Arkansas this weekend on Jan. 14. White heads to Auburn on Jan. 16 and to Alabama a day later for a visit on Jan. 17. Texas A&M will have the talented signal caller in College Station on Jan. 21, then he will close the month out with a visit to Clemson on Jan. 28.

Maybe in your eyes. Judging by the way Freeze has killed it in the portal, I see that he only thought McCall was the only clear upgrade over what he already has. Then his credit issues arose. That’s why Freeze is being patient and not just taking a Spencer Sanders type QB. McCall may still graduate and transfer this summer. We have no idea.

Why did you leave out the part in brackets? It is McCall plus Leary (WHO VISITED) as official targets, plus at least 2-3 guys that never officially entered the portal. This might shock you, but we are also talking to guys behind the scenes ("tampering"). The guys we were talking to behind the scenes are also clear upgrades on Ashford. They have been brought up and talked about here and aren't really a mystery (eg: the Tulane QB).

Sanders is confusing because he may or may not have other problems which likely explain why he hasn't committed anywhere yet. Shoulder injury, potential academic pitfalls (like McCall), and his NIL demands have all been brought up. I wasn't counting Sanders in that list of QB's, because we ultimately chose not to pursue him.

With Leary’s injuries, you couldn’t count him as being a clear upgrade. He could be another Calzone that doesn’t see the field.

The Tulane QB and who else? And please don’t list guys that have never started a game.
