When I removed the other guys from the OP earlier I actually doubled checked the commitment list on 247 because I thought he already decommitted too
He was one of the first guys that the recruitings guys thought might be decommitting. And I haven’t seen reports of anyone visiting him yet which seemed like a sign

Bill Cameron on "The Drive" said that Auburn is looking for players to compete in the SEC immediately and not "raw" talent to develop. Said Auburn would sign around 20 on signing day and attempt to get 20-25 additional players from the portal.
Ashley Williams appears to be raw and does not fit what Auburn needs att.

It is really encouraging and exciting to see auburn being mentioned in the same sentence as Ohio St and Clemson regarding recruiting. It’s also cool to see our coaches realize we need OL and WR, and go after those positions. I’ll definitely give the Beaver Boys credit where it’s due!

If Harsin was hitting up Charlotte and Rhode Island everyone would be up in arms (and rightfully so). Now in Freeze's defense, given the absolute zero talent and numbers he inherited on the OL he is much more a beggar than a chooser at this point in the game so it makes sense.

We have others guys committed who are better than him right now. Bring those guys in plus 1 or 2 JUCO/transfer and we are fine at that position.

Just to pitch in on the Rhode Island OL Auburn is after, I was listening to The Cover 3 Podcast today and Bud Elliot rated him the #3 overall player in the portal currently. Bud Elliot is the head of 247 recruiting for CBS and follows all these guys really close. He also mentioned that Ajani Cornelius help up really well against Pitt’s defensive line this season (one of the best in the country before injuries) and did well against Jared Verse last year.
For those who don’t know Jared Verse was a defensive lineman for Albany last year who went to FSU and balled out this year with 7.5 sacks for FSU.
Needless to say there are plenty of great players from smaller schools and by all accounts this kid is one of them. He had 16 D1 offers, most of them from P5 schools on the first day.
Just by scanning through 247’s top portal players we appear to be after several top 20 guys and the TE from FIU was listed #13. Hope we can finish the deal on a few of these guys.

Take a look at an NFL game when the players announce where they went to school when they announce the starting lineup. Most of the OL’men are from, “Montana, Idaho, North Dakota state..”. NIL gives the big dogs a chance to snatch them away
