The rumors are that he is being offered $5-10m by various schools. His family is legacy UNC back to his grandfather. If someone pulls him from UNC, no school's players are safe.

IMO that would fall squarely in the category of good fun. Not surprised our guys are tweeting him. Players generally like/respect each other unless the guy is doing something perceived as "dirty" like wrenching ankles under piles, dangerous cut blocks, etc...
The vitriol is more fan to fan. Players recognize the work of other players generally.

Looks like the sport I loved for 40 years is unraveling quickly. This new unlimited free agency, no salary cap, just sucks to me.

If he ain’t bringing Bain he doesn’t need to have a scholarship. They should’ve never offered him since he was leaning towards walking on.

There’s some more backstory. He was committed to Auburn for a while and flipped to Bama toward the end. He played a lot of games with his commitment and that left an impression on Auburn fans that they aren’t going to quickly forget
