I dont think im entering the QB chat. I didnt see much ashford throws but im getting the feeling that Thorne ends up with the job.
Just rewatched the video one more time on a bigger screen. I got to thinking this has to be the first time I have seen OL not practice in shells. The rest of the positions did, though.

My assumption as well.

We’ll see in what, 10 days Freeze said?

Was clear when he transferred in he would

Yea, I think he said first 5 practice, reps will be split equally. In theory, the following practice we may have an idea.

1 and 12 with some pretty good throws. Still just running drills though, so not claiming any heismans.. yet. Geriner looks like he's put on even more size to me. He's by far the biggest of the QBs.

Looked the best throwing to me. Walker better be ready for some competition. Not sure how fast Brown is though.

I don’t if anyone thought this, but I thought Freeze’s disposition in the presser was decidedly different now that they are in training camp. He gave Payton Thorne no favoritism and clearly stated it would be a 3 man competition. Freeze just seemed a lot more serious. Answered questions very directly. No more Mr Nice Guy kinda stuff. His tone sounds like he’s gonna bust their arse and see who’s left standing. Let’s me know we’ve got a real football coach for the first time in a long time.

He might have looked the best today, but sometimes people show their goods early in fair-weather (going against air in shirts and shells), while others exhibit traits of immortality when the going is rough. Put the mofos live.

I was impressed on the few plays we saw that everyone was getting lined up quickly and coaches not screaming to move in or out or up or any of that. That's big. If they know the alignment and assignment on the first day of fall is a very good start.
Secondly, I love Var and I'm sure Jay Fair is a very good player but it's gonna be hard to keep Caleb Burton off the field. Dude is explosive.
Lew is a damn big sombitch. Needs more lower body development but for a kid coming in as a true freshman. Wow that's the way they need to look.
And finally no comments on the Blue shorts with normal piping? Figured that would steal the show for day 1.

I think I had mentioned him being a strong safety in the past.
I think Thorne wins the job but I also think Robby makes this team better by being on the team. I still want to see how he acts when adversity hits speaking of Robby

Not sure you can get anymore adversity than last year.

For those wondering the 2 deep on the OL was as follows
LT Wade/Langlo
LG T. Johnson/Wright
C A. Jones/Lew
RG Stutts/Muskrat
LT Britton/Miller

Agreed. We already know one guy is a tough mofo that’ll put his guts on the line.

Yeah that's kind of the point he went into complete shite show mode when the shite hit the fan.

the blue pants are sharp looking!

I disagree Corch. When shite hit the fan is when Ole Miss looked like they were about to beat us by 50. RA was too raw to will us to victories but he battled hard and stopped the beatings. He actually put us back into that football game.

Pretty solid 2 deep. I read something somewhere that the coaches figure Wright will end up passing Johnson, but since he missed time in spring camp he's starting with the 2's. I like that Stutts has some competition too, so even if he's the starter you know he's earned it.
