Adding (to our current commits):

4* LB Robert Woodyard
4* CB JaDarian Rhym
4* DT Jeffrey M’ba
4* CB Austin Ausberry
3* RB Justin Williams
3* OL Jalen Farmer
3* CB Keionte Scott

Auburn would total 229.89 and currently be 12th with 20 commits. We would still add guys (not quite sure who) and would pick up a nominal amount (7-12) of additional points to that total. Plus, Keionte Scott doesn’t add points because he doesn’t have a composite ranking yet.

Add (to that list):
4* DL Khurtiss Perry
4* RB Trevonte Citizen
4* WR Antonio Williams
4* LB Demario Tolan
4* OL Antavious Woody
(And remove 3* RB Justin Williams)

Auburn totals 257.98 with 24 commits and slides all the way up to 8

Obviously the second scenario is the home run scenario where nearly everything swings our way and we close incredibly strong. That’s a really, really tall task so I wouldn’t expect that to happen. But I think it’s good to get a sense of what needs to happen in order to crack a top 15 vs a top 10 class

Here’s a decent enough guide for most of the big names we’re in play for going into the last 2 week. I’d probably mark off Antonio Williams now

Thanks Jonesy, thats exactly what I was going to request!

So now the coaches have their meetings with players on the bubble, some enter the portal, and it makes room for some seasoned linemen to fill in the gap til we can get some seasoning on the younger fellas.

This sure is looking like we will have a good close even if we only get about 2/3rds of the aforementioned, a far far cry from where we were and yoman's work considering the obstacles to overcome.

I remember being called crazy because I mentioned Saban was 6-2 In his first year then ended 6-6. Most people would say “yea but he had the #12 recruiting class that year”…….

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Harsin baby

And yes I know comparing anyone to Saban is foolish, but the point is that we’re off to a good start

His first year was ‘07…

With that logic Harsins first year will be next year

Thanks Jones,

What is the transfer rule this year, is it we can sign up to 7 and not go over the limit.

His first year coaching was 2007. His first class after being there a year was the 2008 class. His 2007 class was a month after he was hired.

When someone references a recruiting class, they’re referencing the “class of xxxx”

Saban was hired January of 2007. His “first class” was signed a month later in February, which is the “class of 2007”. But as we’ve seen for coaching changes — that’s sort of a misnomer. Saban did land some guys in that 2007 class but it was thrown together in a month’s time. The class of 2008 is what most would consider his first class.

It’s why I get prickly when people try to call the class of 2021 Harsin’s first class when Kevin Steele was technically in charge and Harsin hadn’t been hired when 80% of that class signed.

Anyway. I tend to agree with Jville and it’s generally best not to compare coaches to Saban for a lot of reasons

Ok I honestly didn’t realize it was only a month.

But yea I don’t like comparing anyone especially to the evil emperor. That said I like where we are.

You can replace up to 7 players lost to the portal without them counting toward the 25 man limit, but if you lose less you can only replace the number lost under the waiver. Any more incoming than you lost count toward the 25 man limit.

Realistically where do you think we end up? Somewhere around 12?

Not that a few spots matter. If we get some key guys in spots of need, we’re trending up. Already trending up just due to the fact we realize we’re supposed to recruit OL

I’d guess around 15. Could be 12. Could be 17

I think we pass 20 but I’m doubtful we’ll get near enough to 10. But it all swings on a guy or two at these ranking spots. It’s all guesswork

Since we told Bobo to kick sand, do we lose his son as a OL recruit? He is 50% of the total Oline recruits that we have

I’d say it’s a good chance we won’t sign Drew Bobo now But nobody is asking him given the circumstances. I imagine they’ll eventually ask

Is the kid any good or was he just a favor for Bobo?

Probably depends on where you want him on the OL. I like him at LG/RG/C. No surprise that he’s been regarded highly for his knowledge of offense and he plays pretty nasty and finishes plays.

But as you noted, we need him even more because we’re low on OL this class yet again. Not sure that interior OL is a dumpster fire like OT is but this feels like a continuance of what we’ve experienced the last few classes
