I saw a lot of folks saying there’s no way a college offered kid is using a block their senior season.

Placekicker could chime in but K is the one position that I actually know a lot about, and I would be shocked if he’s using a block. He’s probably been treating the past two years as college prep and been working off ground.

Also would be shocked if he’s even using one situationally. Kicking is all about consistency and repetition.

His power is honestly unbelievable at his size. 247 has him listed as 5’10 155lbs. I had about 20lbs on him at that age and my longest was in the mid-50’s, but that was off a block and I had what most would consider a strong leg for HS. I can’t wait to see how strong his leg is by the time he’s an upperclassmen at AU.

I guess this should go somewhere around here. AHS vs. IMG recap and write up

I imagine many of them will have a very memorable and special trip to the Plains for a few days.

Hopefully some of our hometown AHS players can work on some of the IMG guys. I'd love a home and home and neutral site rotation. It's quite a trip for high school teams, or at least it was back in the day.

State record. He narrowly missed a 70ish yarder a few weeks ago I think he gets to use a block but the leg and accuracy is beyond impressive

Kick'er arse U. Leg U. What a history, and it seems we just get better and better.

Kick Yer arse U? Help anyone? It is truly amazing. And I remember all the years Saban never had a kicker or punter worth a shite. It drove him crazy and he finally smartened up after he couldn't find a headset he had not smashed thanks to bama's legs.

While we are at it... Try and punt punk arse bitches

On loop for a while. The original calls.

We are a seriously legit football and basketball school now. Still conflicted but I will happily adjust as necessary.

I’m just glad this didn’t turn into another Sean white situation. Now was the kick wind aided or not?

I agree. Yeah he’s a edge guy though. Im still acclimating to the 3-4 but his primary role will be pass rush still

YEah, if Powell has that constant motor that a lot of DEs have, then if he can gain about another 20 pounds, he can stay there. I think I saw his weight at 212, but usually after a full season they lose a little starting out weight.

I don't recall how tall he is, but if he has that ball hawking attack, we'll find a place for him...

If he’s using a block that’s a small damper. I don’t see how that is legal in games.

I thought blocks(the kicking kind.lol) were not allowed anymore in HS?

I am guessing for sure, but I just don't recall all of these last 20 years ever hearing about block vs no block in HS football anymore...

Opens up the sweet spot more. Think of hitting an iron off a tee. Way more forgiving. Also helps holders by giving them something to aim for. I use to have a white piece of tape on my block (which wasn’t legal )

lol never got caught. that's a great analogy. so it's allowed in hs because they want to assist kickers a bit since they aren't always the most talented at that level, but in college they're saying you no longer get this help, basically.

Correct. If they had to kick off ground most high schools would probably just go for two, especially with straight on kickers.

Bama’s OT commit Booker on Powell Gordon:

quote:

“Powell is a dog,” Booker said following the game. “He gave me a run for my money today. I appreciate him for it. It’s probably the most I have been challenged all year. Auburn is getting a great one out of him.”

I know Woody made some comments saying he was firm with FSU and wore FSU gear to the AHS/IMG game, but it feels like he’s trying to drum up some attention around his recruitment after everyone was essentially considering him an Auburn commit.

Reuben Foster got an Auburn tattoo

We’ll see on NSD but I’d be shocked if he doesn’t flip
