I think Powell may be the most underrated recruit we have. Dude has some get off and is very physical. That can go a long way.

Dee Ford weighed maybe 190 lbs. when he came to Auburn. I hope they leave him at DE, if he knows how to rush the passer. Need someone who can get to the QB fast these days.

Dee Ford out of Odenville looked like a fricking DB

I know Dee and watched Dee as he became a good football player. He was quick as hell even though he was sloppy. Great story him and Chad Slade out of Moody both turned very good players. Chad was an after thought recruit that started for 4 seasons.

That Powell kid will never play a meaningful snap for Auburn

Fair enough. I have an aunt in Odenville which is the only reason why I remember it

I like Powell Gordon for some of the reasons why I liked Jarquez Hunter last year. He’s undersized (slightly) but he’s got way above average strength and I think that helps make up for some of that size difference. And the production is there. I think Gordon has 4 sacks and a bunch of TFLs in only 2 games. I’m not projecting him to be Leighton Vander Esch or anything but I think he’s got more than people give him credit for

Odenville is some good folks. Got a great mix of society there. Young money, old white and black folks, poor folks.

Most people agree so it’s not a hot take by any means

What I’ve learned is that guys like Gordon see the field often because the coaches trust hard workers that know the assignments (even if they can’t always physically achieve the goal). Harsin’s philosophy so far is to mitigate damage on defense. I think it’s why Smoke and Wooten get the time they do despite the fact they’re both vulnerable on certain assignments. They’ll mostly grade out really well overall. It’s a better bet that he doesn’t light it up but he’s gonna play unless he transfers. He’s the model Harsin guy

State record. He narrowly missed a 70ish yarder a few weeks ago

I think he gets to use a block but the leg and accuracy is beyond impressive

If he’s using a block that’s a small damper. I don’t see how that is legal in games.

Consider the conditions to. Wet and cooler. Crazy how big of a leg he has for his size

I don’t know that he does. On the 70 harder attempt, that he narrowly missed, I saw a lot of folks saying there’s no way a college offered kid is using a block their senior season.

He probably doesn’t use a block.—- except for when he’s asked to kick a 70 and 61 yarder. Considering it’s legal, why not. Who cares, 61yarder that’s down the pipes is fricking boss in high school block or not

I hope he’s not but if he is, give their holder his due. He has to catch the ball, cleanly put it on the block, and spin it laces out without disturbing how the block sits.

Looking at this I’m guessing no block.

What a leg man. LINK =
