I think Stidham is going a little too far in his criticism and given our basketball history everything Bruce does is gravy but I do agree with the sentiment that outside of the early part of the SEC season last year we have failed to build on the momentum we had as a program.

Not getting out of the first weekend last year was a significant underachievement and the players still on the team are not progressing in any way. Recruiting is also kind of meh.

I think Bruce is at a crossroad though. He is going to,have to abandon his philosophy of small guards and make some changes around his half court O.

Our recruiting has still been good. We have had several come in and go to the league. We have had a few recruits not pan out as we hoped.

We have had and maintained momentum.

The reality is that the league as a whole has improved substantially

Fair enough and I do agree with this. We’ve been passed by alabama’s shitty basketball program and that’s pretty unreal considering how Bruce had things humming a few years ago.

Our trajectory isn’t reallly up anymore. More stagnating. We sign one 5* each year and live with the development of 3* and 4* players. So we may have a great season one year and throw away seasons the next. We have a lot of depth though. A lot of experienced depth. Bruce screwed up somewhere and he probably knows exactly where.

That’s not Sweet 16 worthy. We lost 4 of our last 7 regular season games. We weren’t a hot team.

lol what? Several teams ranked lower than that offensively make the sweet 16 and elite 8 every single season.

Not teams that lose 4 of the last 7.

As someone else pointed out there have only been 2 tournaments since then. To paint it as a 4 years later thing is just disingenuous. Since 2019 we’ve had a bad season, a 2nd place SEC finish, and a 1st place SEC finish. You people drive me crazy, prolly gonna log off for a few days.

Literally the first team I just looked at from last years sweet 16 lost 7 of their last 11 games before the tournament last year. Entered the tourney on a 3 game losing streak.

They scored 36 points in one of those 3 losses and 41 in another to go at your other point of being a “sweet 16 worthy offense.”

Holy crap guys. The issue isn’t that we have a few guards under 6’ it’s that they can’t shoot. It wouldn’t matter if they were 6’6 if they still couldn’t hit an open shot.

Holloway is 6’ and we are after another PG in the class after that’s 5’11. Y’all need to accept that as long as Bruce is here there’s a decent shot the PG might be short.

And our short point guard right now isn’t bad. And I think he could be really good if he had more spacing around him. Very curious to see if Bruce envisions Aden at the 2 along side him or if he sees him at the 1 primarily or both. I’d bet they both start

I think Aden is too good to come off the bench. I would guess he starts at the 2 and Bruce uses him as a second PG. I’m excited to watch a McDonald’s AA and actually see one of our guys.

So glad I made the right call and went to sleep. After we could close within 9 pts, & it surged back to 14, I turned it off. This is going to be a painful team to watch over this next stretch.

Wow, I don't think even I have ever melted this hard over a game.
