Because that’s the same bullshite I heard with Payne. Just recruit the player hard anyway and use him if we have to adjust formations.
Payne had the skill set to be more than a NG if my memory serves correctly.

6’1.5 and 340 doesn’t excite me very much. Guessing Garner may want to be more selective with a 5* DT already locked up early
There you go again with that Asian logic making too much sense.

It’s just my logic. I didn’t sprinkle any soy sauce on it

On Daron Payne — I agree with Janga that the word was that he wasn’t a good fit schematically. However, unlike Keenan, Payne was a freak athlete. I dont remember all that much about his recruitment but his bench press and squats were alarmingly heavy. I’m taking that in any scheme

I’m guessing 247 will ramp up its presence on the CBS streaming platform. More year round coverage of recruiting, the camps, and check-in’s with the individual teams. The National guys will help fill in content for the teams without the individual subscriber base to support a site and mesh it all together

Tim is a 6’2 340 pound 4* DT that has a ton of offers including Auburn, but he says we don’t talk to him a whole lot. He said he’s disappointed that we don’t since he’s in state.

Me on page 2....

4* DT Tim Keenan

Known him since he was a little. Likes my daughter
His dad said he likes the way CRG coaches his DLineman the most, but AU isn't recruiting him the hardest because they think he's going to Bama...watch out for LSU tho

What doesn’t make sense is he says Bama, LSU, and Georgia are recruiting him the hardest.

Makes perfect since...

Forgot about your post. That makes sense then.

I agree with your last 2 posts, Jones.

E, what have you heard? I know you’re from Prattville or whatnot.

I talk to his uncle almost every day. He offered me a free ticket to the basketball game tomorrow if I can get off early enough.

If Big Tim can come into his senior season less then 320 watch the recruiting pick up. At 340 he’s way to slow. You want to see if a kid can do what they need to do on their own instead of like in college where it’s a controlled atmosphere. He’s not athletic at 340 but would be at 305.

If we offer soon, he's ours. Otherwise it's FSU, kid loves Norvell.

Finishing off Day 2 school visits:

Thompson:
Information is spread around as KN and JC discuss a wide variety of topics including PWOs Evan McGuire, QB Sawyer Pate, and Al Pogue with the HC. Just a few points.

-McGuire’s strength at kicking is kickoffs. Needs to improve punting to be be a 3 for 1 guy.

-Pate isn’t afraid of work. He thinks he will eventually be a scholarship guy and a contributor.

-Pogue is always in a great mood. A joy to be around.

KN says Thompson is loaded with young talent. The school has a freshman, 2023 class recruit in Peter Woods that already has an Auburn offer. He likes CRG and wants to visit this spring.

Thompson also has a 2022 weak side defensive end that is the #9 recruit in the country in Jeremiah Alexander that holds many offers including from Auburn. He hasn’t really built up a relationship with our staff yet though that’s something he wants to do. Right now we appear to be chasing Bama and Georgia.

Think this is from yesterday’s visit, but just dropped today.

Williamson:
2022 Robert Woodyard:

The linebacker is the number 14 ranked prospect in 2022 class. He hasn’t made his way to visit Auburn yet and only talks to Travis Willams every now and then. He has already visited Bama and LSU.
Couple notes: his DC at Williamson is Antonio Coleman. He is also cousins with 5* DT commit Lee Hunter. Hunter has been working him to go to Auburn. Hopefully Antonio Coleman, too.

Blount:

Lee Hunter says he’s all in with Auburn and feels even better about his commitment than he did when he made it. He started recruiting for us as well. Not only does he help recruit Woodyard, he also recruits Dylan Brooks and they’re building a bond. He thinks 5* Dylan Brooks picks Auburn and commits before the season.

I don’t know. Neibuhr noted that he doesn’t talk much but he may just naturally don’t like to offer a lot of information. In a later response to a question regarding T-Will he said “he’s pretty good.”

We are trying to get him down for junior day though. He said he’s likely to visit in the spring.

I haven’t heard any numbers for nex years class but I assume 24/25. Below is how I think the breakdown might be based on needs.

2 - QB
2 - RB
3 - WR
TE - 0-1
OL - 5 (3OT 1G 1 G/C)
DL - 4 (2 inside 2 Ends)
LB - 3 (1ILB 1 OLB 1 Buck)
DB - 5 (2 CB 3 S)
P/K - 1

Thoughts?

That looks too well rounded to be a good projection for our staff. lol. Going to be 0 LB then 5 LB next year

Touché
Actually early in Gus’ tenure the classes were very balanced when Coach G was the recruiting coordinator. I think he stuck with his numbers much better then we have recently.

J Lee says 4* OT Micah Morris plans to visit Auburn again in March. Probably March 14th. Morris already knew of Bicknell from meeting him last summer.

Micah is the number 86 recruit in 2021 class according to Rivals rankings.

Since we are throwing ‘22 kids on this and you know I like to put out early word on kids I could see rising. Evan Smith of Oak Mt. plays QB but with his speed could be a very good CB. Kid straight up has jets. Not a SEC caliber QB.
