Auburn lands 2020 JUCO left tackle commit (Rivals)
quote:

An offensive tackle, you say?

Meet Jonathan Buskey.

The 2020 junior college offensive tackle announced his commitment to Auburn on Tuesday night.

“I talked to (Gus Malzahn) today; he offered and I committed,” Buskey said. “I’ve been a big fan of Auburn since I was little, so this is like a dream come true.”

Buskey is an offensive tackle for Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College. The 6-foot-7, 330-pound offensive lineman played high school ball at Leflore in Mobile.

"My whole family is Auburn fans, and I’ve always watched Auburn since I was very little," Buskey said. "I’ve been to Auburn once and loved it. I'm very excited to be committed."

Auburn’s offensive line recruiting has been the topic of much debate. The Tigers haven’t brought in the raw numbers necessary along the offensive line to satisfy future offensive lines. The depth chart heading into 2020 looked particularly bleak.

"Coach (Kenny) Dillingham told me they needed offensive linemen," Buskey said. "It sounds like it is a perfect situation for me."

Buskey is on pace to graduate from Coffeyville in December and enroll at Auburn in January. He will have two years to play two at Auburn.

In a matter of a week, Auburn has added two linemen in the 2020 class — high school guard Avery Jernigan and now Buskey.

Massive and moves well, no doubt. There’s some surprising speed there. Shows a ton of strength

Number 9 ranked OT in the country and top 100 recruit, Jalen Rivers is set to visit March 2nd. He will be joined by teammate 4* DE Chantz Williams. Both already claim Auburn offers.

Is it dumb that I’d be mad if we got Rivers. It would show that we can land recruits when we actually buckle down. Nevertheless, one way or another, a melt is coming.

Super random observation. AU is being picky out the gate at DL. They've only offered 16 prospects so far.

If Boykin & Robinson were still committed tho then they would probably already basically be done with the class so that might have something to do with it

Can't complain too much about Garner. He could use a 5* DE this class though.

Yes. We need his type desperately.

True, but we are in a unique position of being a somewhat big time Power 5 program who can legitimately almost guarantee playing time because we don't even hardly have enough bodies to fill a position.

Kind of the same situation we were in going into the 2007 recruiting class. We had signed only 4 OL in the previous two classes, and only one of them (Mike Berry) was still on the roster going into the 2008 season. But we signed 9(!) in 2007, including the bulk of our OL (Greene, Pugh and Ziemba) for the 2010 BCSC squad. Plus we had two DL from that class (Eddins and Isom) who ended up on the OL, and would have had another star had Ramsey not screwed up his back.

We were in the same position last year. We should’ve been desperate much sooner than this season.

I think we were. We just have an OL coach who is not a good recruiter.

He's so good at developing DL, that it's pretty likely at least one guy from this class will play at a 5* level...rankings be damned

Listening to atl sports talk radio they are talking about top dlineman from Md visiting with entire family, heavy uga lean. And 5 star qb from CA. They most go down the list and chase every 5*. It’s working aling with whatever $$ they are handing out. AU staff needs to wake up because UAT, UGA and Clemson have raised the bar. Now UF, UT and AtM have strong coaches and recruiters.

Don't disagree but this year they would have probably had to wait at least a year, now we don't even have bodies to be ahead of these guys.

Last year was critical this year is full on mandatory no choice gotta have it defcon 5 crisis mode.
