I reassure you, that if Auburn decides to switch to a 2-5-4 scheme, that they will absolutely sign Tisdol.

I’ve heard way too many Auburn fans take the position that UCF are rightful champions to assume your statement was sarcasm.

Boise State, under Petersen, knocked off some big boys and their recruiting was a lot of 2* and 3*. Recruiting rankings are a joke. Find good players that fit your system and coach them up.

Our recruiting is going fine, IMO. We just need to do a better job at developing the talent. You can win a NC if you are bringing in top 12-15 classes every yer.

You can, but the odds are still very stacked. You need nearly everything to go your way.

There are 5 or so teams that are essentially doubling the amount of talent over a 4 year period than teams that are frequently finishing in the 8-12 range. They don’t need nearly as much to go right to be in the same position.

That’s the game, truthfully. Widen your margin for error. That’s really tough to do in the SECW unless you recruit on Bama’s pace.

They did, but it was maybe once a year. The problem is when you have a full season of big boys.

Not sure where this rumor began but, if he did, he could not have done much. Highly doubtful.

ETA: found the source of confusion

From the 247 SCe site on target updates:

quote:

Future plans: Bigsby has stated he wants to make a decision by the start of his senior season. He is scheduled to be at Auburn today (July 23) and the Gamecocks are trying to follow that up with a visit to Columbia.

Which is surely a mistake given the dead period restraints

Keith is posting the visitor list Friday afternoon. He says the list is solid and it’s even better than he previously thought

Auburn commits and targets make moves in updated Top247

quote:

247Sports released an updated Top247 (full list  HERE) on Tuesday and there were some noticeable changes. Here’s a look at how Auburn commits and targets fared:

quote:

-Linebacker commit Trenton Simpson of Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek, who committed to the Tigers on June 14, now is a 5-star with 247Sports. He was bumped up 20 spots to No. 14 after a strong showing recently at The Opening Finals in Texas. Simpson is the highest-ranked member of the 2020 Auburn commit list. More on him  HERE.

quote:

-Tight end target Darnell Washington of Las Vegas (Nev.) Desert Pines fell three spots to No. 20. That's a minimal drop and is more about others moving up

quote:

-Offensive tackle target Broderick Jones, a longtime Georgia commit from Lithonia (Ga.), fell to No. 39 from No. 26. Jones might be Auburn's top remaining offensive tackle prospect. It's possible the Tigers will get an official visit.

quote:

-Defensive end/buck target Donnell Harris of Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep, who recently reclassified from 2021 to 2020, debuted as No. 51 in these rankings. Auburn is among the top contenders in his recruitment and should get an official visit.

quote:

-Auburn linebacker commit Wesley Steiner of Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County moved up five spots to No. 71. He was sharp at The Opening and won the overall testing competition there. That performance seemed to verify what 247Sports already thought of Steiner.

quote:

-Four-star running back target Tank Bigsby of Hogansville (Ga.) Callaway made a big move, jumping up to No. 73 from No. 140. He plans to visit Auburn sometime in the next week. The Tigers are battling Georgia and South Carolina.

quote:

-Cornerback target Ethan Pouncey of Winter Park (Fla.) fell, but only four spots. He's now at No 90. Auburn is a top contender.

quote:

-Four-star buck target Phillip Webb of Sugar Hill (Ga.) Lanier improved 10 spots and now checks in at No. 94. LSU, Auburn and Alabama look like the favorites.

quote:

-Running back target Lawrance Toafili of Pinellas Park (Fla.) dropped five places to No. 96.

quote:

-Defensive end target Jay Hardy of Tennessee is now at No. 100, down from No. 93.

-Receiver target E.J. Williams of Phenix City (Ala.) Central made a big move and is up 52 spots to No. 102. Alabama and Clemson are the top two with Auburn next.

quote:

-Receiver commit Kobe Hudson of LaGrange (Ga.) Troup County is down two spots to No. 104.

-Offensive tackle target Omari Thomas of Tennessee fell 10 spots to No. 117.

-Receiver commit Ze'Vian Capers of Alpharetta (Ga.) Denmark is at No. 133, down from No. 123.

-Running back target and Alabama commit Roydell Williams of Hueytown (Ala.) moved up to No. 137 from No. 138. He likely will visit Auburn this weekend.

-Receiver commit J.J. Evans of Montevallo (Ala.) fell four spots to No. 145.

-Offensive tackle target Marcus Dumervil of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquanas moved up to No. 148 from No. 198 after one of the better performances at The Opening Finals. Auburn could get an official visit.

quote:

-Safety target Ladarius Tennison of Rockledge (Fla.) fell four spots to No. 152. He plans to visit Auburn this weekend. Some think it's between the Tigers and Miami. Others say it's Auburn and Florida.

-Defensive tackle target McKinnley Jackson of Lucedale (Miss.) Georgia County rose four spots to No. 162.

-Defensive end Zykeivous Walker of Ellaville (Ga.) Schley County is at No. 170, which is a jump of 12 spots. Auburn will get an official visit but most see Georgia as the favorite.

-Defensive end BJ Ojulari of Marietta (Ga.) moved up 41 places and sits at No. 184.

-Tight end target Jeremiah Pegues of Oxford (Miss.), who has Auburn in the lead, dropped 15 spots to No. 185

quote:

-Linebacker commit Cameron Riley of Evergreen (Ala.) Hillcrest is at No. 209. He was at No. 207.

-Cornerback target Kendall Dennis of Lakeland (Fla.) is at No. 222. He fell one spot.

Will Crowder from Gardendale and Aaron McLaughlin from Alpharetta Ga. will be visiting this weekend. Both are pro style QBs in the 2021 class. (Gus will never learn.)

We are also interested in a kicker, Evan McGuire from Thompson High. His stats were rather non-existent though. Last year:

In 2018, McGuire was 5-of-5 on field goal attempts with a long of 44 and was 52 of 54 on PATs per Max Preps. In 69 kickoffs, he had 56 touchbacks. As a punter, McGuire averaged 37.2 yards on 14 kicks. Those are 12-game stats. The team played 13 games, so we’re not sure if McGuire only played 12 games or if his stats are incomplete

What Kohl’s Kicking camp thinks:

Kohl’s Kicking ranks McGuire as the country’s No. 10 kicker and No. 29 punter. That site wrote this about him:

“McGuire recently attended the 2019 Kohl's Southern Showcase in May of 2019. He showed next level leg strength with multiple 70+ yard kick off's and huge FG's. His 6'5 frame allows him to get great lift on his FG's. He is a very talented prospect with a bright future ahead of him. McGuire moved into the D1 scholarship category this spring and is hitting his stride at just the right time. He made an impressive 15-15 in the charting session in Atlanta. McGuire could also develop into a big-time punter in the coming years.”

Couple of notes:
- could kick at our camp and scholarship offer may or may not follow.
- He’s an Auburn fan.

Don’t pay too much attention to the labels recruiting sites put on QBs. Keep in mind that Joey, our likeliest QB this season, was an ATH.

Crowder runs quite a bit and not just scampers here and there. His coaches design the QB run into the offense. Similar to Bo in that sense.

Same deal for McLaughlin. At 6-5, 230 he’s also an athlete with running in his playbook. He’s runs a bit less than Crowder, though. He’s also Capers’ QB
