You think they were letting in a 2 loss non-conference champ?

Unfortunately, they usually aren't.

Yes. They could compare our resume head to head w/ Bama's at that point.

Bama's only resume advantage was 1 less loss

AU had the Head to head beat down & a much higher SOS. 5 commun opponents would have been same record against them. Our other 3 P5 opponents: UGA, Mizzou, & Clemson were much tougher than Bama's: Vols, Vandy, & FSU

What we would have maybe deserved and what would have happened are two different things. It's been shown that Bama is going to get the benefit of the doubt, every time.

Not saying he will be a bagman for us, but he is a wise young man (not using “well spoken”). And he knows tons of kids.

He might not sway anyone himself, but someone is going to want to play with him, because he makes everyone look better.

JMO, of course. ??

Yep.

IF we don't lose to LSU, when the committee meets to decide who goes to the playoffs, we make it as the 4th team, as we only have an early season loss to CLemson and a loss to GA in the SEC champ game, Both of the teams that are in the Playoffs. And we did win the SEC West, with 2 wins against 2 #1 teams at the time.

So, it would have been close, but I think we get it w/ 2 loses.

Even before the LSU game our O line was struggling. One of the biggest differences between the Cam/Marshall teams and last years team is the O line play was way better. Stidham definitely could have played better as well, but how much of that is rust from not playing for a year and needing more experience combined with it also being Chip Lidsey's first year (Yes I know still Gus offense, but he did bring in some difference concepts and it takes time to gel). We should have a good shot at making the playoffs this year too so I'm not sure a pocket passer is holding us back.. I just think there are different pro's and con's for the type of QB you have and a good coach can maximize either. To me it seems we have been pretty good with both types of QB minus a few players who just weren't that good..

There was no doubt comparing the resumes though. Bama-tOSU was somewhat close. AU-Bama...Not Even Close as our baseball hecklers would say.

So basically Gus alone cost us a chance at the playoff with the “it’s not the end of the world” loss. I was already ticked when we blew that game but hearing him say that after made me wanna kick his teeth in.

Our resume would have been better than bama's and tOSU, but they'd of used the conference title for tOSU as the reason we didn't get in and left out bama also. It's political. The resumes aren't weighted the same.

I was pissed too but in the end, that goofy bastard was right. It was not the end of the world. Win the SEC Championship against UGA and we would have been in the play offs.

But we didnt.

A great pocket passer can be just lethal as a dual threat guy in the right offense. I think those here than still rather have a NM type over a JS type are afraid Gus don't know what to do with the JS types.

Its like when Michigan had Denard Robinson playing under center. If we're going JS, NIx, etc we've got to develop the intermediate passing game, attack the middle of the field more, and not get in obvious passing situation like we have a tendency to do.
