Also next weekend is gonna be really interesting. Here's who is expected to take OVs

4* ATH Harold Joiner
4* OT Dylan Wonnum
4* DT Coynis Miller
4* RB Shaun Shivers
3* CB Benjie Franklin
3* ATH Nathaniel Watson
3* TE Matt Alaimo

Will be interesting to see if Joiner, Franklin & Alaimo are takes

Got another CB for Bo Nix. Interestingly Ole Miss has gotten 2 CBs for Joiner recently

You’re right...

Depth has to be the main reason.

Still, a class of 4 WR’s seems a little much for a team that doesn’t throw it around all that much. Especially, considering the QB situation after Stidham leaves. (Not saying it’s bad but it’s definitetly not as talented arm-wise)

Ya I think the original plan was only to take 3 but more top talent wanted on board so staff took em. If JaMarr Chase or Justyn Ross wanted on board, probably take em too. Five would definitely be insane but it appears Lindsey's offense is attractive to WR talent right now so cash in while you can

As for Willis & Gatewood a few prospects have actually said they were really impressed with Willis at A-Day & all these recruits are tight with Gatewood. I agree that QB situation after Stidham is giant question mark but it looks appealing to recruits which is interesting

It's always interesting to see how different programs can look to recruits compared to fans. We all see an offense that didn't seem to get the most out of it's weapons at times & concerns about ability to finish come postseason. Recruits saw an explosive offense that could give them a chance to show their skillset & a program on the rise. Like I said earlier, AU's regular season finish had a major impact on the trail despite our bad postseason finish

Makes you wonder if Chip is indeed the man. This isn't ideally recruiting for a run, run, and then a little run more type of scheme.

Could see Joiner looking hard at OM as they currently only have one RB commit, imagine they'd welcome him on-board at his favored position.

And real reason 2post... Do you see signing 26 now or holding out as in years past, excluding of course all the stars aligning before then?

It also helps recruiting that the only team to beat the last 2 standing (sorry UCF) is Auburn. That pushes the needle some more.

I’m not being biased at all with this statement... Auburns offense is a lot more appealing right now then either of Alabama or Georgia’s. We don’t have the star power that either of them have per 11 but Auburns system is at least balanced.

I’m fine with loading up on WRs. Outside the OL and DL, they make up a lot of our 11.

They’re also seem the most likely to transfer, get kicked off, or leave football altogether for a modeling career

Besides Ryan Davis, it's not like there is a bunch of studs out there. Maybe NCM, but he rarely gets thrown to.

I think AU will sign 25 with Fuqua taking a grayshirt making it 26

Maybe if they strikeout at CB on these top guys they hold a spot open for a grad transfer if they feel they need it but as of now it looks like they plan on taking full class

Edit: I will admit that I am sketchy on the numbers rules & not sure if AU has to keep a spot open in recruiting class to take grad transfer or not

Technically, its not 26 with a greyshirt because the greyshirted player will count against next year's class I believe. Remember when Bama did this just last year to that super highly ranked defensive end that everyone wanted?

Ya I think you are right. I will admit that I am far from an expert on the scholarship rules. E understands that stuff better than me

I think we will take as many as we can (which I believe is 25) & grayshirt Fuqua if he wants to stick with us

Edit - I do think there's a CHANCE that we get a 26th spot because of Carlito Gonzalez. He signed a LOI with us but never made it to campus but instead was eligible to play for Memphis, enrolled & played for them this year. I think AU is trying to get NCAA approval to backcount that scholarship. Again, no certain but KN has hinted AU might be able to take 26

We also use WRs in non-traditional rolls... jet sweeps with Eli Stove have been very effective.

Lindsay and Stidham did a good job this year of getting a bunch of guys involved in the passing game.... that includes RBs and Cox.

Right.

I’d say Davis and Slayton are essentially established.

Stove had a weird year, but his rushing and receiving together added a lot of production.

Just not a lot of guys that can break a defense, and I think that’s worth trying to find. This was also a really good year for WRs and I’m fine with taking more than we should, especially since last year was light.

Agree on Davis & SLayton.

On Stove, I agree he got better on the jet sweep and some of the short passes, but he is NOT the WR you want to send on Go patterns, or post routes, where he has to fight for the ball against a DB. We tried to throw that to him too many times last year and he just doesnt adjust well.

NCM DOES do those routes well, and I think after the bowl game, he showed he could fight for that ball in traffic. The problem is JS did not throw it to him enough, or NCM's # was not called enough, or JS simply didn't think he was getting open enough.

JS...He could throw a out and up, a sideline throw, and a slant well. COuld make all the throws. His problem was he locked in too much on a WR, waited too long for WR to get open, or his line simply didnt hold their blocks long enough. He HAS to improve on his progessions, his look-offs, and his holding the ball too long....

NCM's problem is that he is a real receiver who would be best served running regular routes and is playing in an offense that is basically a bubble screen or a bomb 80% of the time.

KN confirms that 3* TE Matt Alaimo is currently a take & a source said quote "We want him." The other team to watch is A&M with TE coach Tim Brewster but the Aggies are offering a ton of TEs right now. AU plans on selling Alaimo on him being their guy. Chance he joins the class soon

4* LB JJ Peterson is expected to commit to Tennessee tomorrow but AU will continue to pursue according to KN. AU also still hard after Bama commit 4* LB Quay Walker. AU thinks they have a real shot at the flip. If AU were to miss on both keep an eye on 3* La'Dedric Jackson as an option

Remaining spots verses who we want aren't really lining up. 5 spots left yet sounds like we want TE, RB, 2 OL, LB, & CB. My guess is it will come down to RB or another LB for that final spot
