Loving the size at WR we are bringing in now

I'm loving that we are bringing in more WR's by trade, not the 6'1 flexible athletes that have played QB and other positions longer than WR.

Speaking of WRs...anyone notice that Darius Slayton's updated height / weight is 6'2 191

That position is going to have some good competition moving forward

Brandon Martin 6'4 200+
Kyle Davis 6'2 200+
NCM 6'2 200+
Marquis McClain 6'2 200+

Stanton Truitt, Elijah Stove, and Ryan Davis

And Jason Smith as a Senior next year. I think he'll be the bell cow this year replacing Ricardo on the sweeps and other staple plays.

I think White is a good pocket passer and with all these WR kids - we could be an awesome passing attack. Only one problem - Gus and his 5 WR routes. Man I hope the playbook bursts open this year.

I hope Askew is right but isn't he the one who said Benton would be next to commit to AU like 3 days before he committed to bama.

Had we gotten Benton and Mond we would really be putting together a solid class.

Gus made comments this offseason that suggest he knows he needs to keep learning and adapting as a coach, and that's one thing I pray is he brings in somebody to consult with that can help him grow his WR routes and route trees and develop the passing game. Maybe an NFL guy or now that Briles is not working get with him over the summer because Briles runs a more passer friendly version of the HUNH.

Hate to admit it because it's so overused on tRant, but the routes in Gus' playbook are still very HS

Can someone explain how Brandon Martin is the "Top Juco WR" when he red shirted last year?

He redshirted due to knee surgery, not ability. He's obviously very talented. Out of HS he was commited to Mizzou but ended up signing with LSU. Those are two schools that have been good at scouting WRs, so I'll take their word on him.

I'd push to fire Gus if he ever associates Art Briles with our program.

He already has to the degree that I'm talking. And just a few months ago too.

All I want is some of this:

Malzahn traveled to Waco, Texas this week to spend time with Briles and talk football, schemes and more.

They even went to a Baylor basketball game together, and Briles has been a guest speaker at Malzahn's coaching clinic.

I just hope the guy doesn't turn out like Deangelo Benton, Trovon Reed and Duke Williams.

If he could turn out like Duke without the attitude that'd be awesome. Reed was out of position on offense and should've been a DB from the get.

But yeah, according to LSU posters he doesn't have any known character issues and is only in JUCO because he was coerced into going to a sham private HS that's known for never having their credits accepted by the NCAA

This was just a rumor not confirmed and public when Briles stopped by.

I posted a link. They went to a Baylor-Kansas basketball game together. In the link I posted there's another link to an article about Briles speaking at Malzahn's clinic.

Gus is friends with a POS. A POS that's an offensive football genius. DWI.
