EVERY recruit should know that the possibility is there that it could be them. But they don't because every recruit also thinks "I'm the best so it will never happen to me."

Sure, but IMO it should be done sooner than like 20 minutes before he announces.

There is nothing special about signing day. It is just the initial day recruits can officially declare for a school. They can hold out if they aren't sure.

Of course. I agree 100%.
I'm must saying that if you are a Bama commit, you better know up front that come signing day there's a chance you may not be going to Bama and you'll be left scrambling.

Pulling off Jarez Parks + Bryant would be the ultimate Garner finish. Out of nowhere on signing day we somehow land good guys at the DL

This. And Bammer obviously promised him the world if he had an entire gym full of people and cameras. They could atleast be upfront and tell him he's in competition with someone, but that's not how they do things.
