Yup. And if we are really successful next year, I would hope that would be a boon to recruiting.

At the least, we need to beat UGA next year. Kirby is doing great in recruiting, we need to make sure he does not get even more momentum by winning the East. Florida looks like meh recruiting, but damn every midtier program down there has a big name--- seems like that will make recruiting even more difficult.

Hopefully Ole Miss gets bad news soon and we can scoop some players.

“The kid works his butt off,” said Marvin McNutt, Iowa’s all-time leading receiver and one of Martin’s personal coaches. “He literally will just keep going all day until the tank is empty.”

Adding to the white boy stereotypes there, but McNutt was awesome so that's a good endorsement. Probably a damn good coach too as McNutt was a QB who switched to WR and because of that became a very QB friendly target who knew where to place himself on the field and had very precise technique

He named them the favorite "by a long shot"

Said their pitch was "play with us or get beat by us" and that it spoke to him.
That makes me think he's weak minded because if somebody said that shite to me it's just make me do a 180 on them and want to prove their arse wrong

He's been a roller coaster his whole recruitment. Don't ride the waves with him just wait and see where he goes.

He's actually the 32nd WR ranked receiver of the class. He'd be the highest ranked WR if we land him.

Army Bowl: Day 1 recap (247)
quote:

-There's a new name on the receiver board. The Tigers have offered 4-star Oliver Martin of Iowa. Great hands. Great route runner. Faster than you think (LOL). That's the book on Martin. Notre Dame and Iowa are the presumed leaders but he could visit the Tigers on Jan. 20.

-Auburn also appears to be recruiting another receiver here, 4-star D.D. Bowie of Mississippi. He's an Ole Miss commit, but the Rebs aren't having a great recruiting year and he's open to other schools. Don't be surprised if the Tigers get an official.

-Five-star defensive tackle target Aubrey Solomon of Georgia has Alabama in front, but Auburn is in that next group and the Tigers will get a Jan. 20 official visit. Solomon says he wants to hear more from Auburn. We're told the Tigers staff communicates regularly with his mother, who's the major person in that recruitment.

-Four-star safety Devon Hunter of Virginia told us he was about to commit to Auburn before secondary coach Wesley McGriff announed he was leaving for Ole Miss. The Tigers still have a shot, but it's less than 50 percent. He needs to meet -- and really like -- McGriff's replacement for Auburn to land him. His Jan. 20 official to Auburn is still on despite McGriff's departure.

-Alabama 4-star offensive guard commit Kendall Randolph says an Auburn official visit is likely. That said, he told us he doesn't really talk a whole with the Tigers. We'll continue to track that.

-Four-star defensive end Jarez Parks of Florida will officially visit Auburn on Jan. 20. Most people think he's a Tide lean, but he maintains he is completely open-minded and will give the Tigers a hard look. He already has visited Auburn twice.

-Four-star safety and former Auburn commit Tray Bishop committed to Georgia on Sunday. When told about that pledge, one Auburn commit replied, "We don't need him." While Bishop is an outstanding prospect in our opinion with a high ceiling, the commit's point was this: He's only concerned about what the Tigers have, not who isn't joining them.

I couldn't help but laugh at description of Martin and I bet that comment on Bishop is Moultry considering that's really the only AU guy at Army game this week

How does Bama come along and instantly becomes Soloman's leader? We need to lock down Ryan Johnson now.

Bama has been one of his top teams for awhile now. Part of the shock with him committing to Michigan over summer was everyone thought it would be Bama or UGA. Stanford is bigger threat with Ryan Johnson. Bama will get LaBryan Ray so they aren't gonna push for Johnson

DE target Ryan Johnson breaks down top 6, Auburn’s chances (SECCountry)
quote:

The 4-star defensive lineman has less than a month to finalize that decision. Auburn is certainly in the mix, maybe even near the top of the mix. But Johnson hasn’t narrowed in on a specific school.

Wooten and others are still vocal about where they want Johnson to end up.

It’s not just the Auburn commitments, though early enrollees Malcolm Askew and KJ Britt have served as sufficient salesmen. Wooten provided the Orlando pitch while the pair participated in Under Armour All-America Game week festivities together.

But there’s also Johnson’s connection to the Mobile (Ala.) area, where he played for St. Paul’s Episcopal. There’s a rich connection between Mobile natives. Auburn linebackers Tre’ Williams and Deshaun Davis have been the most vocal of that group.

“They’ve been reaching out to me a lot. You’ve got players like him and KJ. I’d definitely say Malcolm and KJ. They’re on me hard. Tre’ Williams and Deshaun too,” Johnson said.

5-star Aubrey Solomon among Auburn recruits at U.S. Army All-American Bowl (AL.com)
quote:

AUBURN COMMITS

T.D. Moultry, LB, Birmingham - The Jackson-Olin linebacker was one of the top players in the state this year and could rise even more in national recruiting rankings as this is his first chance to perform on the national stage.

AUBURN TARGETS

Devon Hunter, SAF, Chesapeake, Va. (East) - The elite safety is still considering Auburn despite coach Wesley McGriff leaving for Ole Miss.

Jarez Parks, DE/LB, Sebastian, Fla. (East) - The four-star will take an official visit to Auburn in January, he told 247Sports at check-in. Alabama and Florida seem like top competition here.

Aubrey Solomon, DL, Leesburg, Ga. (East) - The five-star will take an official visit to Auburn in January. The Tigers are battling Alabama, Georgia and others here.

Oliver Martin, WR, Iowa City, Iowa (West) - The four-star told 247Sports at check-in that he'll take an official visit to Auburn this month.

D.D. Bowie, WR, Morton, Miss. (East) - The Ole Miss pledge told 247Sports at Army Bowl check-in that he's considering a visit to Auburn in January.

Tray Bishop, ATH, Dawson, Ga. (East) - He's actually not really a target anymore, but we had not reported that the former Auburn pledge committed to Georgia on Sunday. That happened, so now you know.
