Some good news regarding our Dline recruiting:

Five-star DT Derrick Brown tells me that he WILL BE in Auburn for the elite recruiting weekend at the end of May. Rivals100 DT Antwuan Jackson says there is a GOOD POSSIBILITY he is in town (I expect him to be there).

- from Allie D. She is referring to big cat in case that's not clear.

Pretty funny

@ebroark
Just FYI......NCAA busted 5 coaches with "bump" rule at IMG yesterday. Had NCAA people pretending to be watching practice like parents.

Height is no longer a prime requirement for safeties under Boom.

Wish we took that approach with OTs, am I right?

So would the NCAA, because much like 99% of the Twitterverse, the tweet was 100% BS.

Unless Keef tweets/retweets it's BS.

Do we want Brown or Rochester more?

The answer is Brown, and would have been no matter recent trends. Both can be 1st Round picks if they work for it. IYAM, Brown winds up being the better college player. (I think we can still offer an opinion here)

We'd be thrilled with either. We almost definitely aren't getting Brown so hopefully we can figure out someway to sway Rochester back over the next 9 months.

We may be relegated to trying to find a late blooming DL like Miss St found a few years ago or snag one of the top 2 juco DTs if we can.

If we miss out on Rochester, Jackson, Clark, and Brown and have to go this route then it's time to find a new DL coach. Getting zero 4 star freshman DTs two seasons in a row is pretty much not acceptable if we are hoping to get our defense where it needs to be consistently. And it's not like Garner is a great on the field coach, he's average at best. If he can't bring it recruiting anymore not much reason to have him on staff.

We have a good shot at getting Davidson & Jackson, 5 & 4*. I was only talking about missing Rochester, Brown, & Clark for our last DT spot after Jackson since we will want 1 more.

We lead big w/ Jackson & I would make a solid bet Williams & Marshall are 4*s before it's over with.

Many DL in the NFL he coached would disagree w/ you.

We're pretty much the worst slow-season recruiting team in the country. We can't hold momentum worth shite during these months post-NSD and leading into the next season. We seem to continually lose traction for kids that we stood strong on (or lead for) while other schools somehow bunny-hop us. shite, Eli Stove has been on "commitment watch" for a solid two months now. How sad is it going to be if he ends up committing to Florida LOL?

Ya'll are taking my post out of context. That's my fault. See above. If we land Davidson, & Jackson plus Marshall & Quinnen get 4* bumps as I think, we will have a good DL class. Just not as good as UGA's.

That would suck but both AUC & AU Rivals report he is a silent AU commit right now.

That would be a very solid class, bumps or not. But if we are having to go to plan Cs during this recruiting season Garner has really screwed the pooch, there is an unreal amount of DT talent this year.

If we land the 4 already mentioned then I respectfully disagree w/ the first sentence. I have no problem w/ getting a joco DL or 2 in this class. Actually w/ the potential of losing 5 DLs from this team: Lambert SR, Harrell SR, Carl draft eligible, Monty draft eligible, & Daniel very stupid decision (very possibly 3/4ths our the starters & a top sub), I would prefer it. IMO outside of the elite 5*s & some upper 4* DTs it's hard to find DL SEC ready as a true frosh. You have a greater chance of getting a juco more ready to contribute right out of the gate.

Another note. We are losing at least 2 in Lambert & Harrell & were already planning on 5 or 6 DLs in this class. That means the staff may already know if Monty & carl are leaning pro or the staff is just not happy w/ the depth @ DL on this team.
