prediction this morning that AU will end up with the #1 DL class. I guess he feels we land Derrick Brown. I do too fwiw.

That can't be true. Just a few short months ago, people on here were whining that we couldn't recruit any good linemen. Our d-line coaches should be fired, etc.

When you consider the fact that besides Lawson and maybe Adams, we don't have any good linemen. I think it is a fair critique. But that is just empirical evidence, it pails on comparisons to the all mighty recruiting rankings.

You can't evaluate somebody's ability to recruit by the results of the players he gets.

You evaluate someone's recruiting by determining whether other schools wanted the guys he got. Usually recruiting rankings line up pretty good with the amount of offers a guy gets so it's actually not a bad tool to use.

For example, let's say we land Derrick Brown. Almost every school in the country wants him. Then let's say he tanks and does nothing on the field for us. Are you going to say the guy was just never good and every coach including guys like Saban were wrong in their evaluation of the player or is it more likely that the player just wasn't developed properly?

My point is Garner's problem seems to be development right now. Not recruiting.

May have been covered, but why doesn't Justin Hokanson write for any sporting websites anymore? Found his new Twitter and he's into some sales.

The next excuse is because the other schools backed off and didn't really want them, thus AU got em.

Probably wanted to make more money. I hear insurance salesmen make real good money.

Maybe he'll start a website with tools weekly rankings and a hot board for the ten hottest sales each week.

From the same school as Antwuan Jackson.

The last OL we got from Cedar Grove was pretty damn good.

Top 10 most wanted from 247:
1. Derrick Brown- AU trending
2. NCM- Auburns confidence is rising. UF is falling off. FSU and UNC also in it.
3. Willie Allen- Very unclear who's actually in contention
4. Rashan Gary- Uphill battle
5. Ahmmon Richards- Auburn is feeling optimistic
6. Ben Davis- Alabama
7. Landon Young- UK commit. Have to get him to visit to have a chance
8. Landon Dickerson- FSU, AU, UT are leaders
9. Karamo Dioubate- Pretty solid to PSU
10. Rahshaun Smith- Auburn is 4th
10. Tre Nixon- UF is leading

It really depends on the player. But how many of this type of guys do we actually have on the DL? I count 3 at most in Ouchie, Monty and Cowart.

So yes Garner sucks at coaching. I am the leader of the fire RG bandwagon. But not many coaches will turn AAC plays into draft picks, certainly Garner won't do it.

The issue with Garner is that he puts a ton of time into lost causes and strikes out on much needed depth players

Garner gets a solid amount of top talent, in 3 years though we have only signed 3 high school DTs though despite having a need every year

Highly recruited guys and takes for a lot of big 5 schools:

Lawson
Daniels
Adams
Thornton
Russell
Lambert
Cowart (yes I know the connection to Muschamp)
Tega
Davidson
Jackson

To say Lawson, Adams and Cowart are the only ones is laughable

Watch them somehow pull off Greg Little, Rashan Gary and NCM. It would be Tunsil, NKemdiche Treadwell all over

What pisses most people off is that we have DT issues yet only 2 on that list are DTs
We have been very poor with DE llay despite signing top rated DEs.
