Also Mark Murphy says we can have as many as 14 EEs in January. 10 of our current commits are set to EE.
I hate to be THAT guy, but I read that John Franklin had the option to participate in Bowl practices but decided to spend time with family. Normally I would be understanding, but after a full season of Johnson and White I think he needs to get on campus ASAP
Is there any chance he changes his mind?

I've been on the wrong side of just about every qb discussion we have had in the past 8+ years but I just don't see a guy who doesn't even start at qb for his JC coming in and competing for the job here.

I'm hesitant for the same reason. He must really suck at throwing.

I just doubt Nate and Eli are going to Auburn.
If we get DCraig, hard to imagine we don't get at least one of them

Once again I'll say that if John Franklin starts for us next year at QB, we are screwed.
Posted on 11/30/15 at 4:21 pm to Weagle25
Why the frick would we offer him and not that dude Evans? Just makes zero sense.
Posted on 11/30/15 at 4:23 pm to AUtigerNOLA
Because we're not taking a JUCO QB.

People said that about Nick Marshall as well, FWIW

I would have felt a lot better if we got 6'4 230lb QB Jerod Evans, the whose numbers are 63% 395ypg 38TD 3INT while rushing 50ypg on 5ypc & 4TD
JUCO - 63% 395YPG, 38TD 3INT ->Rush 5ypc 50ypg 4TD

Franklin looks like a guy who should go play for Rich Rodriguez. He'd be a stud there. He doesn't seem to have an elite arm and he probably doesn't have great decision making passing if he doesn't even start in JUCO
The kid can run all over the field though. Probably would be more dangerous when the play breaks down than actually throwing the designed play

Nick Marshall
completed 57% (343 attempts) of his passes for 18 TDs and 20 INTs. 19TDs rushing (171 attempts/~1k yards) (8 fumbles, 5 lost)
JF3
58% completed (110 attempts) 7 Tds 2 INTs. 9TDs rushing (43 attempts/450 yards) (1 fumble, 1 lost)
--------------------------------------------------------
Not saying JF3 is the GOAT but he looks like he could be really close to Nick Marshall's skill set which I would be pretty thrilled with after this year's QB performances

quote:No & I wouldn't do it if I were him either. He says he hasn't seen his family in 2 years so he wants to spend the Holidays with them. Besides Spring Ball is plenty of time to learn our O. It's not complicated by any means. And Gus & Rhett (if still here) should adjust to JF3 a lot quicker than previous QBs since his skill set is very similar to Nick Marshall's.

Does Franklin have two or threes years eligibility?

quote:To be fair he was late getting to that juco & was only there 2 semesters. The other QB was already there & started last year.

JF3 skillset seems a lot more like Lamar Jackson from Louisville than Nick Marshall. I don't know what that means for Auburn, he just doesn't have the arm strength or power running that Nick Marshall did to be close to Marshall.
I don't think he will be bad, I just don't know if he can be great. FSU did recruit him at QB so I imagine he has some talent at least
