I have never been impressed with D Watson. Definitely not a 5* game changing QB, IMO.

McClain is nowhere near a take for UF right now. Stove said he could see himself playing @ Florida but is still 100% committed to AU FWIW.

Intel says it would take Gus & Dameyune to leave to lose him. If the info is right I would not worry yet. He still has multiple AU visits coming & he's already been here for 2 or 3 games.

And Cody Core (AHS), Derunnya Wilson, Ameer Abdullah (Yes, Tre was awesome) and others who supposedly wanted to come to AU but were not sufficiently welcomed or recruited. On a more local scale I have seen it for years with AHS prospects / recruits - Demarcus Ware, Osi, Marcus Washington and to a lesser extent as a recruit, Joe Whitt Jr. These guys all came after me (AHS '88), but my mom taught all of these guys. Years later after making it to the league or moving up as a coach (JW Jr) when they were back in Auburn visiting family etc., all of those guys (minus Osi - he did not have the same kind of ties to Auburn or mom as the others) on many occasions would stop by mom's classroom to just say hello and thank her (mom retired in 2005 after 35 years). For her it always meant a lot, as a teacher. She had no idea that those guys were tearing it up in the NFL until they told her
Typical convo:

NFL stud who didn't play at AU:
"HEY Mrs. XXXXXXX!!!! I am home for Thanksgiving and I just wanted to stop by and say hi..."

Mom: "HHHHEEEEYYYYYY (insert NFL stud player name) GOOD TO SEE YOOOUUUU!! How is your (sister / mom / brother / cousin....) Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! How is work? What are you doing?

NFL stud: "Yeah, I am doing okay I guess. I am starting at linebacker for the Redskins (Cowboys / Giants, etc.)."

Mom: Well good for you!!!!! See? I knew you could make something of yourself! Tell your mom / dad / sister / brother / cousing (called them by name because she cared enough to know all of her students) Mrs. XXXX said hello!

Then small talk for a half hour about high school biology, NFL stud's classmates and friends, family and relatives, "work stuff (AHS teacher vs. NFL stud)" etc., until the next time.

It was always stuff like "Hey Joe - HOW ARE YOU?!?!! What are you doing now????" (NFL assistant coach).

In class - "Cody, if you don't believe me, ask Dale!!!!! (his older cousin)!

To Demarcus: "Where are you and what are you doing now? Tell your mom I said hello and I still remember our conference a few years back when xxx (his brother) thought he could just skate through my class....!!!!

Sorry for the run on. All of the above is true. It absofrickinglutely sucks, especially being from Auburn, for AU to miss or pass on talented guys, especially local guys, who want to be at AU. I know.... it is a crap shoot and hindsight is 20/20, right? Right? Still....

And the obligatory frick Radio and Rashaan - other issues, background, etc. Not local kids.
