What Chris Westry told KN
-hasn't talked to the staff in more than a week
-going to talk to his coach and get some answers
On a personal note I understand if there is no way to correctly handle these things but I wish the staff would just be straight up with him and say they don't feel he is the best fit for the new scheme and philosophy. Ask him to look around for a school that is a better fit but tell him they will honor the commitment if he stays. That way even though it stings he knows exactly where he stands instead of being out in the metaphorical cold wondering. Plus if I remember correctly we have a high valued target in the 2016 class from that school. It would not be a good idea IMO to leave a bad taste in the HS coach's mouth.

The video was okay, but it didn't do a lot to fire me up or anything.

This leaves the door open if we strikeout. I hate it too but just saying.

From what I heard, coaches often times try and help guys in his situation out at another school. That takes time and is a process considering his limited offer sheet and limited interaction with other teams

I don't think its as cut and dry that we're parting ways with Westry as people think. Apparently Muschamp offered him at UF. I think we're just waiting on some other guys decisions before we decide on Westry.

Wasn't Westry recuited by Muschamp at UF? I thought I read something about he camped there and was offered by Muschamp on the spot.
If that's the case, Muschamp must have higher priority targets here that he feels pretty good about and they are keeping Westry as a backup plan.
I don't know how it could be a "scheme" issue since it was Muschamp's scheme at UF.

I have heard, as I just posted, that a lot of coaches will often put in a good word and use connections to get recruits access to other schools when we pass. Especially right before NSD, when the kid doesn't have the ability to be scouted/make connections with other staffs

Do we really know what is being said or not said other than what a recruit or their coach may say? Hard to critique something with so little information of how the process all works.
On the outside looking in I agree with you, but wtf do I know.

Let me be clear. I'm not downing our coaches at all. I just think there is a more respectable way to handle this. That's all. We can end the topic there if y'all want.

They really play up the NFL angle with the
52 draft picks" bit starting around 50 seconds in.
(I reckon this is what the game has come to in recruiting, i.e. playing to the NFL dreams of high school kids, the vast majority of whom will never play a down of organized football past college. Can't blame AU though. Talking sense and shooting down dreams isn't exactly good salesmanship. Coffee is for closers.)

Well, IMO whoever is calling the kid and asking him the questions some are asking, is total BS. One story from a pay site/newspaper is enough. Anyone who follows AU recruiting knows this kid's story. With his lack of recruiting experience, I would imagine that if he didn't have questions, he does now. This isn't Cowart/Key situation, and it makes me glad I no longer give certain people $9.99/month!
