The defense is definitely the #1 issue, nobody would dispute that. However, we know as long as Gus is here offense is going to have to largely carry the team.

Who knows what could have happened but maybe a elite LT allows us to not perform so poorly in the redzone against Miss St. and Alabama or score than 7 points vs. UGA or not get abused by a true freshman all game vs. aTm?

May not ever get to play for UA. I read that he was kicked out of his pre-trial discipline / intervention program. He faces arrainments for multiple charges in the coming months.

I thought he was already enrolled at Bama. If he's good the lawyers that defend all the other Bama thugs will get him off.

35 points a game is doing enough to get to the playoffs. It needs an adequate D to support it.

Possible but doubtful given how stubborn Gus was most of the time about using inadequate HBs and thus cluttering the box with defenders instead of going 4 wide to get the box uncongested.

That true freshman is one of the best DEs in the country and abused nearly everyone he faced.

Whar kind of breakdown? We can take 7 or 8 more right now (someone should give me the right number because I've seen both) with the possibility of more if Muschamp tells some guys to look around

I'm not sure what you're arguing. An elite left tackle is probably not on our roster and it would greatly improve our roster if there were one.

Is the program going to implode if we don't sign one? No.

Are we going to have a much better chance of being successful if we do? Yes.

You can never have enough elite OL. Look at Kozan. He was one of our best OL as a RFr and we had to shuffle the whole line last year because of him being out, and there's a chance he may not play again. He'd be a surefire NFL candidate after next year.

There is no guarantee that Tez or Chidi will be one

I'd say better instead of much better. An LT is only 20% of an OL and the better would be in the long run but likely not 2015.

Let me by clear. I would love it if AU landed Tez or Chidi, I would take them in a heart beat, and yes you can never have too many elite OL if you can get them. However, given the overall quality of our OL (8th in the nation averaging 260 yards rushing a game this year, 12th in the nation at 5.6 yards per rush, and 12th in the nation in sacks allowed) and this OL class there is absolutely not a need for Tez or Chidi which was the original discussion point.

Let me guess, you thought the same thing when GRob was a RS freshman?

Our interior OL+hback is just as important as a LT. If we are able to run it through the A/B gaps it won't matter

Per Mark Murphy

-Gus is is letting Boom make the calls on which players get offers on D.
-Boom's major emphasis ison getting DBs with strong man coverage skills
-less concerned about having DBs who have a long reach as opposed to the last DB coaches
-(To the shagrin of AUtigR24) MM reported a couple of days ago Westry was excellent in man coverage at the AU camp this Summer

Did well there too. 14th in the nation in sacks allowed per pass play ratio.
