Have we gotten to the point of comparing Kodi Burns to Jeremy Johnson now? Really?

I love what I have seen in JJ. That doesn't hide the fact that his toughest competition has been Arky.

Their defense was pretty good this year...

Incorrect. I never said I want Miller. But if he is brought in, then Gus has a reason.

So putting up 75% comp, 250 yards and 2 TDs against a top 25 defense isn't considered tough?

Not like Arkansas did not post shutouts against Ole Miss and LSU or anything

That's why I have included "IF" within my post.

ETA:

I have no knowledge on Miller. But if Gus wants him, I am fine with it.

Then why in the frick are you going all out defending this and making yourself look like a damned fool? Because honestly, that's all you've done, outed yourself as an idiot.

What are you talking about? My position hasn't changed. My initial post stated IF our two WRs go pro, Gus might want to keep his options open. Go back and read. I never said I want Miller because JJ sucks. But non of us have any clue how JJ will react when he faces LSU, bama, etc.

ETA:

And I was one of the main ones that wanted JJ to start over NM, even though I was wrong on that one.

AUCE05

Tough crowd today.

For those that jumped on AUCE05 for his Kodi Burns comparison, it does have merit if you actually look at what he's saying. During the '07 season we had a QB that was under appreciated during his time at Auburn and people we're calling for the young backup QB. The next year a lot of people thought Burns was going to tear it up. Sound familiar?

AUCE is not advocating for Braxton either. He's saying (or at least my impression of what he's saying) we should continue to consider options because JJ is not proven which is also a valid point.

I don't know why y'all are so jumpy today.

It doesn't have any merit. Just because people were excited about Burns, doesn't mean that this is all of a sudden the same scenario. Do you realize how much of a stretch that is? People that knew anything about the Kodi Burns situation knew that he was not looking good behind the scenes and that anointing him the starter was nothing more than a panic move. The talent level between the two isn't even close, nor is the overall physical package even comparable. Kodi Burns was lightly recruited. At no point in time did he show competence on the field like Johnson has, regardless of level of competition.

It is a terrible comparison.

Exactly my point. And I will trust Gus Malzahn, who is considered the best O mind in college football, to make the call. I was wrong about NM, and I will be fine with whatever decision Gus makes.

I don't view Nick Marshall as under appreciated...

AUCE05 might, but he has always been questionable of Nick Marshall's ability.

I never compared the talent of the two, just how excited the fan base was over our backup QB, who had limited playing time. And Kodi was a 4-5* QB out of high school

And people were calling for Caudle in 2009.

And people were calling for Frazier in 2011 & preseason-2012.

And people were calling for JJ in 2014.

Yeah. It's a theme that gets played out almost every year for some Auburn fans.

Once again, I'll say it has merit if you look at what he's saying.

Exactly. And then a few years down the road they talk about how they never had any expectations for the QB they were clamoring for.

And what is he saying? That a college team's fanbase will generally hype up a 4-star backup QB? No fricking shite.

That we shouldn't just automatically declare Johnson as our starter next year and continue looking for other options because we don't know what we have in Johnson yet.

I'll go on record and say I have all the expectations in the world for JJ.
