Here's an attempt to get this thread on current relevent topics.

-Per Tyron Johnson's dad via AUC, if Tyron visits for the Samford game it will have to be an unofficial visit. His high school coach does not allow official visits while the high school team is still playing. Also per Tyron's dad TJ has not mentioned AU as his leader. AU & Okie St will get OVs from TJ. He will visit LSU also.

IF JJ blows up next year, I wonder if he will go pro. He has the frame.

JJ knows the difference in money between being an also-ran junior trying to make a quick buck and an experienced senior who is a proven quantity.

I hope someone is in these guys' ears reminding them of the difference between the amount of money you get round-to-round. It's not linear, it's exponential

Just a FWIW Butt Fumble was drafted 6th overall in round 1 after only starting 1 full season of college ball and he is not the prototype JJ is in NFL Scouts eyes. Not saying JJ goes pro after 1 year of starting but I think it's a very real possibility. FTR I would advize against it. QBs that have only had 1 year of college starting experience have historically not done well in the NFL.

He did start some major games in his other years against Oregon, Notre Dame and Arizona

Was top rated HS QB and 6'2 225 LBs with solid athleticism as a QB. I agree JJ has the better QB "build" though, just saying it wasn't like Sanchez was lacking in a significant way.

In terms of draft position, seems like a lot (minus Luck) of QBs benefit from leaving early if projected high as JR

Jake Locker
Logan Thomas
Matt Leinart
Matt Barkley
Ryan Mallet
Potentially Brett Hundley

I think there are a lot of factors that swirl around this one. I'd imagine that statistically though you are right

Yeah. I got from Chris Mortensen a couple years ago. He is about as reliable as it gets on NFL matters.

I still think part of the problem are guys who leave early typically are going at the top of the draft. Those are usually pretty crappy teams and the players would have suffered regardless of having another year

are we recruiting d linemen heavily? am I the only one that feels like dominance there would solve a lot of problems?

Yea, people just need to go rewatch his game against Auburn High. Just watch it. That defense for Auburn was really good and has quite a few D1 players on it.
I'm never watching that game again for the rest of my life

go back and read just a few of the pages from this thread, 90% of it is focused on our Dline recruiting or lack thereof

I'm guessing ND since the #1 QB just committed to FSU over ND.

Seems a lot like we are banking on getting 2 top 50 DTs for 2016, if we get Deandre Walker, we should be solid at DE

Garner is working on a couple of big fish. It's not NSD yet. Take a page out of Rocky's book and wait til NSD to make assessments.

Agree 100%!! Thornton will prove to be a good edge guy IYAM.

GC, I was looking back and realize that I was wrong in my position vs. yours in the NSD/Drama setup debate. You were saying it was impossible to have set ALL of it up, and that is correct. I was trying to say it has been orchestrated to maximize the damage to AU once they knew. Bad job on my part, all around. But since this is tRant... to you for being right!!

Notes from AURWR LINK

DJ Jones
-EE
-has been rethinking his commitment to FSU for a while
-Chances of him not signing with FSU are much higher than originally believed
-If not FSU then it would be AU
-DJ has not liked how FSU has dealt w/ Jaboo in how they have been so lax with him
-DJ does not consider himself solid to FSU anymore
-interest in AU has grown since his OV here
-has great relationship w/ Garner
-plans 2 more OVs: Rebs for the Egg Bowl & Bama date TBD
-AU in good spot to flip DJ

Tyron Johnson
-JJ is a big reason AU has shot up TJ's board
-TJ has watched video of JJ and is very impressed
-TJ thinks he could put up big numbers catching passes from JJ
-expects AU to throw more with JJ at QB

-Burt is an EE and no change on his commit status yet
-Jovon should be at AU to participate in bowl practice as he graduates in late November
-Nothing official yet but Carl has still not practiced and all signs point to him RSing this season and being a RS Soph next season

*Here's hoping JLee is not just being JLee on the DJ Jones info.

I haven't watched film on him, but his 247 Sports "skills" set reminds me a lot of Jarvis Landry.

Either way, we need some highly rated wide receivers in Sammie Coates and Duke Williams leave.

My only point was that any "show" or shenanigans seems to benefit Alabama in a way that is independent to how it affects AU. I do not believe Alabama "plants" flips and I also do not believe that they flip a commit at the last minute primarily for publicity but rather recruiting strategy of not giving AU a chance to counter their flip attempt like say Ricardo Louis and FSU

I imagine they enjoy the additional press but it is marginal considering they already have that press by winning Recruiting championship .

Honestly I don't think someone as confident as Saban gives a shite about hurting AU. If you think you are the best coach and you take your rivals top choice of players, you shouldn't worry about playing a team of #2 picks
