This is the last I'll say regarding him , but JUCO is typically meant to fill deficiencies and they are stacked at rb . They could get a prospect who is just as good or close to it in the '15 hs class

Who is the last player Auburn has had from Connecticut? Jason Miska?

Which is a flaw in thinking that a lot of coaches have. Auburn kinda broke the mold on this thinking and others will probably follow.

Then why would you be upset about them getting him?

Hey that just fills them up even more so. I think we do recruit JUCO to fiil holes, but also we have taken guys just because we believe they will help even if we have guys there. I'm not going to wade out into the Jovon waters. Ka sera', sera'... :beatdeadhorse:

Am I the only one who isn't wow'd by Johnson? Don't get me wrong, he is a great player, but I don't get most of the hype. Nothing jumps off the film when I watch his highlights.

I've said this from the get-go. My wife's cousin teaches at Madison Academy so we go and watch a lot of their home games. The competition they play, aside from 1 or 2 games a year, is atrocious. 3A football in the state of Alabama is not good. Hell, there were teams they played where KJ was as big as some of the defensive linemen.

Not that I am not wowed, but I don't see a whole lot of difference between him and Rudy Ford. Who was not a 5*, maybe he should have been. but if Rudy can't crack the lineup on O, how is Johnson? He would be a hella Safety for sure. And maybe he really is all that as a playmaker.

I agree with Johnson not looking like a bonafide 5 star, but this is an unfair comparison. Rudy was a freshman behind a Heisman finalist and 2 solid upperclassmen. Very few freshmen would get much playing time behind them. And Rudy still may move back once Grant is gone

I agree with you, I just see KJ running into the same issue when he gets here. Barber, Ford, ROC, Pettway plus whoever else we sign next...

The thing with Rudy though, is he is an absolute burner. Raw as far as a RB goes, but unbelievable speed.

Johnson, not so much. He isn't slow, but I wouldn't call him fast either.

Finally This

Rudy is an elite RB and likely will be very good for Auburn. We had emergency needs in the defensive backfield and needed Ford to double up. He still saw valuable time at RB in mop up duty and performed very well with backup OL blocking for him.

All of this I agree with, my argument is that KJ may be ever so slightly overrated. Unless Ford was grossly underrated.

KJ and Rudy is very bad comparison IMO KJ much more physical down hill runner that uses his body and momentum. Rudy is Omacc

Ford is more of true RB than McCalleb ever thought about being... they let the dude work out with the DBs for crying out loud...

he's more grant than OMac... may not have the bulk of CG, but has better hips than any speed back Gus has used here.

How many times can the guys statement be misunderstood on this page?

No comparison between KJ and Ford besides them probably both being buried in the depth chart here.

Which is to be expected from Ford fro the onset of the season, since he had an upperclassmen returning starter, JUCO leading rusher and state track champion upperclassman all in place early before he arrived on campus

We just offered 3* OT Bailey Sharp while on his visit to AU. Niebuhr expects him to move to a 4* . Interesting to note is Penny and Keith CBed Sharp to AU minutes before the offer was published and JC CB him to AU minutes after. Highlights
