That other guy on Hoover's D that's committed to Bama #49 I think looked legit.

Kendrick Norton has gotten a few cb's to UF in the past few days

"Auburn is the school I'm committed to, but at the same time, at the end of the day, people change their minds," Williams said Saturday after Hoover's season-opening loss to Miami-Central. "You just have to go with the flow. Everything happens for a reason. If I were to go to Auburn, then that's the place for me. If I were to go to Alabama or Oklahoma, then that would be the place for me."

I wish reporters would follow that up with

"Then why did you commit so early?"

I will preface this by saying that I'm not butthurt and/or worried about recruiting.

That said, are these kids fricking retarded? I understand the whole "not signed until signed" but don't commit until you know where you want to go. Why is this a hard concept? If you don't have the offer you really want yet, hold off and try to get it.

Darryl Williams didn't get the bama offer he wanted so he jumped on board with AU before we filled up our spots. After he committed to us Saban called him and told him they wanted him. That's how it goes sometimes these kids don't want to get left out so they commit early but the offers keep coming. I think he sticks. Bama is full at LB

Nice ideals if one lives in a vacuum but real life, especially that of a big time recruit is not in a vacuum. There is not one of us on this board that comes close to understanding the pressure these kids are under, especially from the staffs recruiting them. They are constantly hounded by staffs to commit. With pressure like that it's easy to see a kid making choices based on pressure rather than the logical thought in your post.

Also you have to remember spaces are limited in recruiting classes. If a kid tries to hold out for his top offer by the time he concedes late that offer ain't coming choices 2-5 would have likely moved on so many of them jump on board fairly early with the best available offer so they have insurance at most places that they have a spot in the class.

This is the biggest reason. Most of these kids are told "We have x number of spots at position y. We are recruiting z number of guys for those spots and whoever wants them should/need commit first."

Darryl Williams is a Center. Darrell Williams in the LB. Please check \spelling when discussing either one as it gets confusing when a person is talking about one but use the spelling of the other.

He didn't look all that impressive in the game I saw. Maybe it was first game, or in the wrong position but it didn't get me excited about his commitment.

I will admit I don't pay much attention to the recruits until they sign or what is posted on here. I only watched the game when NGT mentioned it was on.

Torrance Gibson is playing on ESPN for anyone interested.

ETA: Not impressed, do not want. Glad AU backed off.

Exactly.

And on top of that, the coaches are rarely blind-sided by any flip-flop. They probably already either KNOW its coming or can SENSE that its coming a mile away... and, thus, are taking measures to fill that spot.
