Nice parts of an AJC interview with Colbert LINK
quote:

After Griffin High School’s Jordan Colbert competes in a track meet on Saturday morning, he’s going to drive to the campus of his chosen college to reveal his decision to the coaching staff.
Colbert, who is a lifelong UGA fan, said his finalists are Clemson, the Bulldogs, Auburn and Florida State.

“It will probably be around 7 p.m. on Saturday, but it could be earlier,” Colbert said. “I’m going to commit to the head coach in person. We’ve already got it set up.”

In case you’re doing the math, Colbert’s track meet is at Rutland High School near Macon. The distance from Clemson is three hours, UGA is two hours, Auburn is two hours and Florida State is three hours.

“I’m just at a point right now where I’ve already got my mind up,” Colbert said. “I’ve already got a clear view of how I want to perceive my life in college. I already know which college is going to best fit me.”

What’s the most important factor in Colbert’s decision? “My main thing is a family atmosphere. I need to go to a place that’s a family atmosphere – where the coaches, the players, and the fans are like one big family.”

Auburn: “One of the main things is going to college with a family atmosphere. I want a family atmosphere with the football coaches, the players and the fans. Auburn makes you feel like you are at home.” Colbert has made 8-9 unofficial visits to Auburn and was recruiting on behalf of the Tigers at last Saturday’s scrimmage.

“I don’t care where they play me in college, as long as I can get on the field and help my team win,” Colbert said.

Colbert plans to major in Communications, and said his future college has already been working with him to make sure he takes the right courses.

Great article. After reading that is an announcement necessary?

Sectional track meets in GA this weekend. Sandy Creek HS has a FR RB who ran a 10.66/100 recently. Same school as Eric Swinney, so I imagine Horton is already on the case.

I don't see why he is making it seem so obvious but wanting to announce too. I wouldn't tell anyone where I was going until I announced. Not even my family and certainly not a reporter from a recruiting site.

Well he's committing by telling the coach in person so he's not really announcing.
